Focus Features has dropped the full trailer for the project, and it shows some of the most popular characters from the movies as they prepare for the arrival of the king and queen.

Will any of the Crawleys depart Downton Abbey for good? That's another big question posed in the trailer.

Fans of the series have been wanting more from the show ever since it went off the air.

“Since the series ended, fans of Downton have long been waiting for the Crawley family’s next chapter,” Focus chairman Peter Kujawski said in a statement when the movie was announced last year.

“We’re thrilled to join this incredible group of filmmakers, actors, and craftspeople, led by Julian Fellowes and Gareth Neame, in bringing back the world of Downton to the big screen next September.”
