On The Simpsons Season 25 Episode 16, Lisa has to quickly pick a new personal hero for a school essay contest when Martin Prince also chooses Marie Curie. She decides to pick Homer, and her words of loving admiration for her father inspire Homer.

Lisa's speech goes viral and a representative from the World Cup asks Homer to be a referee since Lisa makes him seem incorruptible. Feeling confident after Lisa's essay, Homer becomes a model of integrity, rejecting countless bribes and strictly enforcing the rules at the games.

However, Homer finds out from Bart that he wasn't Lisa's first choice and it devastates him. He agrees to help the gangsters fix the game, but luckily Lisa advises him to be the man she wrote about.
