Frank Langella had better start boning up on his Russian.

The veteran movie and stage star has landed a recurring role on The Americans Season 3, FX announced today via press release, coming on board the terrific drama as Gabriel, Philip and Elizabeth’s former KGB handler.

Look for the character to come out of retirement in order to take back the oversight these two KGB operatives from their previous handler, Claudia.

“We’ve been huge fans of Frank’s work for a long time, and it’s been such a pleasure getting to know Frank himself in the beginning stages of working together on the character of Gabriel,” said Executive Producers Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields.

“We look forward to a great season together, and to what we’re sure will be a phenomenal creative collaboration."

The Americans Season 3 will premiere in January of 2015.

In the meantime, you can watch The Americans online via TV Fanatic in order to catch up on Season 2, perhaps the best season of television that aired this year.
