The Good Wife Round Table: Eli's Shocking Confession!

at .  Updated at .

Jason Crouse moved to California, Eli got his heart crushed by Courtney and Alicia finally learned the truth about that fateful voicemail from Will in The Good Wife Season 7 Episode 10

Below, TV Fanatics Carissa Pavlica, Elizabeth Harlow and Christine Orlando debate their shock over Eli’s confession, whether they want Jason back and if the associate war is over at Lockhart, Agos, & Lee after “KSR."

On a scale of 1 (not very) to 10 (completely shocked) how surprised were you by Eli’s confession?

Carissa: 10. Why now? I'm surprised his little foray into the world of love had such an effect on him AND that the writers held this in their pockets for so long.

Elizabeth: 10. Honestly it had been so long I'd almost forgotten about that. I can't believe he thought she might be willing to forgive him for that.

Christine: Totally a 10. I never saw it coming. That voicemail took place all the way back in The Good Wife season 1 and now that Will is dead, it seems even more hurtful to relive what might have been.

How do you think Eli’s confession will change Alicia going forward.

Carissa: Not sure. Seize the day will be her new motto? Will Alicia really sever the ties with Eli?

Elizabeth: Well, I think this will be what drives the "alcoholism" arc that's been teased all fall. I could see this bringing up a whole trainload of old feelings and Alicia crawling into the bottle as a way to deal.

Christine: Will’s death was the catalyst for the rift between Peter and Alicia. Will this cause her to cut ties altogether? I almost see it having the opposite effect, where she decides that living in this controlled sham of a marriage is easier than taking the chance of ever putting her heart on the line again.

Jason Crouse is gone. Do you want him back?

Carissa: No. He's a fun character, but if it's going to be sexual tension, but let's beat around the bush all the time, then I'm not sure I'm all that interested. Plus, he's going to Atlanta to film The Walking Dead, so that's that!

Elizabeth: Only because he's a good investigator for Alicia. The sexual tension and flirtation was fun, but I never really saw it developing into anything.

Christine: I hope he comes back. The Walking Dead has short seasons and people get killed off all the time so it’s possible. I found Jason really intriguing. He could be the type of guy to challenge Alicia personally. I’d just like to see her happy with someone for a change because she normally seems to swing between fine and miserable.

Do you think the associates will get their revenge on Cary or is this war over?

Carissa: They just need to go away. None of them were in the least bit interesting, and Cary trying to be a mentor wasn't working out.

Elizabeth: I don't think they have the dedication to get revenge, honestly. I mean, what they said to Cary about not wanting to be like him? What, you don't want to be a named partner at a major firm in less than ten years after graduation? You are in the wrong line of work kiddos.

Christine: Exactly, Elizabeth! What did they think working at a major law firm as a first year associate would be like? Good riddance. I hope they’re gone and they don’t come back.

Did the judge overturn the verdict because it was the right thing to do or because Alicia threatened him?

Carissa: I'd like to think he has some good in him and did it because it was the right thing to do, but that's the thing about those kinds of secrets -- if you have them, you never know what motivates someone's actions because they're there.

Elizabeth: I actually think it was because it was the right thing to do in terms of the law. He may have been punishing Alicia to start, but FBI investigations don't just completely go away. He really has to make sure his record is clean for the foreseeable future, and throwing a case for her wouldn't do that.

Christine: I actually never thought he did it for any other reason than it was the right thing to do, and then Alicia asked him and I began to wonder. As Carissa pointed out, given the circumstances, Alicia will never be sure.

What was you favorite scene from this episode?

Carissa: Cary firing all of the associates. They were such a bunch of knuckleheads. That moment felt great.

Elizabeth: That moment was great, especially Diane's reaction. Alicia's reaction to the idea of a prenup between Howard and Jackie. But that final scene is the kind of thing that made me fall in love with this show.

Christine: Courtney dumping Eli. It was amazing to see Eli wear his heart on his sleeve and heartbreaking when it meant nothing to Courtney, but it was so well played that I loved every minute of it.

Howard: Oh, come on. This is fun. The first case I ever worked on was a patent.
David: For what, the wheel?

It's odd that someone could be so good yet think things so bad.
