Cruel Intentions Spinoff: Pilot Ordered!

at .

It's about to be a very Cruel world on NBC.

The network has ordered a pilot for a spinoff/reboot of Cruel Intentions, the beloved 1999 film that starred a young Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Phillipe and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The proposed new series will take place 15 years after events in the movie and center on Sebastian's son, Bash.

Here is the official NBC synopsis:

It follows the beautiful and cunning Kathryn Merteuil as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey, the son of her brother, who was the late Sebastian Valmont, and Annette Hargrove.

Upon discovering his late father’s legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined.

Roger Kumble, the movie’s writer and director, will pen the pilot.

Recent TV reboots based on successful movies have included Minority Report (Fail!) and Limitless (Success!), with CBS’ Rush Hour and ABC's Uncle Buck on the way.

So... that leaves us with one question: Who should play Kathryn?
