Bones Round Table: Taking Care of Brennan

at .

A former Squintern returned to work on a case while Booth got stuck at home while ill and Hodgins took a trip down a laundry shoot on Bones Season 11 Episode 17.

Our TV Fanatics Ashley Sumerel and Christine Orlando are joined by Pam from CBR Radio to debate Dr. Fisher’s return, Hodgins fall and if they figured out who the killer was on “The Secret in the Service.”

Were you happy to see Dr. Fisher return and would you like to see more of him in the future?

Ashley: Yeah, I think it was really fun to have him back for a bit, and I wouldn't mind seeing him again. But, there are other people I'd rather see if I'm being really honest. I'd prefer to focus on fewer squinterns so we could get to know them more. Or have people like Betty White.

Pam: Besides Oliver Fischer is my least favorite squint. I have never warmed up to his character so for me it doesn't matter if he returns..

Christine: I liked seeing him over Dr. Wells, but I don’t tune in for the squinterns. I want to see more of our core characters, especially with so little time left in the series.

Who did you think the killer was?

Ashley: I'm not sure, but I thought it was a good case-of-the-week in the way that Booth was involved.

Pam: I didn't know who the killer was in this episode. Sometimes I try to guess and other times I enjoy watching and not figuring out who the killer was. This episode Secret Service man Walker killed another bodyguard for the president to cover up his health problems, and then another guy/suspect kills Walker. So in this case, we had two killers.

Christine: This episode felt like a giant game of Clue to me. I enjoyed trying to put the pieces together. When we first met the landscaper, I assumed it couldn’t be him because we met him too early in the hour. Never assume anything!

Booth Is Blindsided - Bones

Have you ever tried Reiki and, if so, what do you think?

Ashley: Not intentionally. I went in for a massage once and told them I how much stress I was under, so they put me with someone who specialized in Reiki. At the time I didn't know what that meant, so I was fine with it. I hated it though, probably because what I really wanted was an actual massage.

Pam: No, I never have. Bones appeared to indulge even though she acted like she didn't and then had the masseuse stay for an extra hour. To me it appeared to be somewhat touchy-feebly a little too much personal contact for me, and I would feel very uncomfortable with a stranger being that attentive!

Christine: They don’t actually touch you during Reiki. The put your hands over you. It has something to do with energy. I obviously don’t understand it all, even though I had it done once. I found it really silly.

Did you find Hodgins’ plunge down the laundry chute dramatic or eye roll worthy.

Ashley: I mean, we saw it coming for sure, but I still think it was a good, intense moment. And I liked that he said he wouldn't have been able to catch himself and hold on if it hadn't been for his wheelchair.

Pam: I was concerned for him, but he managed to handle the situation well, as he said. He had been working out with weights to strengthen his upper body muscles. He was King of the Lab, as he managed to hold on and find some evidence inside the chute

Christine: It was set up so obviously that I did find myself rolling my eyes a bit. However, I did like where they went with it. That even though he hates his paralysis, the physical therapy saved his life.

What was your favorite scene from this episode?

Ashley: I loved Brennan running around with her tissue trying to prove to everyone she wasn't contagious anymore. So gross and funny.

Pam: Booth trying to make Bones laugh when he was taking care of her. When she was sick and he began teasing her and trying to impersonate The Three Stooges. Booth says laughter is the best medicine, and Bones reacts so seriously with, “No, Penicillin is!” Makes me laugh. Then she laughs and chokes when Booth is teasing her. It’s a nice scene between these two.

Christine: As much as I wish Walker hadn’t killed another agent, I liked that twist that a blood clot was causing his strange behavior and paranoia. I thought that was a really interesting twist.

Bones Season 11 Episode 17 Quotes

Can you just put the snot rag away for now?

Booth

Walker: Booth, I just want you to know, it wasn't protocol. It's just personal.
Booth: You're mixing your words. You should get some sleep.
