Lucifer Season 2: Tricia Helfer Cast as the Devil's Mom!

at .

It's no surprise Lucifer's mom would have a megawatt smile.

Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) has been cast as Lucifer's mom, Charlotte. Like her son, she's gorgeous and quite a handful.

Helfer will recur for all of Lucifer Season 2 and the mother/son storyline is expected to be the central storyline of the season.

The story, as was teased on Lucifer Season 1 Episode 13, goes that Charlotte has been trapped in Hell for thousands of years by her ex-husband, God.

The Mother of Angels is now freed and walking the earth, where she is united with her sons.

As soon as they start spending a little time together, it will become abundantly clear Lucifer doesn't fall from from his mother's side of the family tree.

Charlotte is fearless and has a strong conviction for who she is and what she does.

However, where she parts ways with her son is in her feelings on humanity.

Whereas Lucifer finds humans and all their eccentricities absolutely fascinating, Mother does not.

This rings especially true because she is stuck in human form for her duration of time on earth.

Personally, I think she should be happy she was stuck in the body of Tricia Helfer, but that's just me!

As we've already learned, Lucifer loves to dig around. He's never really satisfied with the first answer he's been given about anything.

So, when Mother says she's just happy to be spending time with her sons, you can bet your life Lucifer is going to be questioning that, and he'll be poking around to find out what she's really doing during her stay.

Shorunner Joe Henderson told TVLine last year that while Season 1 was about getting to know Lucifer, Season 2 would be all about Mom.

If that doesn't tell you there is going to be a lot to process about Charlotte's story, then nothing will!

Tricia Helfer is such a fun actress and has chemistry with just about anyone. She should make an amazing addition to the Lucifer team, really giving both of her angelic sons a run for the money.

Might it even be possible they'll team up a bit more to find out together what their mom is up to? Or will it drive a wedge between them as they try to win her affections?
