Ray Donovan Season 4 Episode 4 Review: Federal Boobie Inspector

at .  Updated at .

That wasn't my favorite hour of Ray Donovan.

On Ray Donovan Season 4 Episode 4, Ray tried his hardest to get the Russian mob off his back, but he quickly realized that was easier said than done.

It's crazy to think that every single time the dude is in a tough spot, he finds a way out, but will he be able to do that this time around? I'm not so sure.

It is intriguing that the mob could strike at any time and take one of Ray's loved ones out of the equation. I honestly wouldn't oppose Bridget being the first to go.

She does everything in her power to annoy her family. I'm so over her. I'd be happy with her just simply moving out of town, but that doesn't really happen on a show as gritty as Ray Donovan.

Ezra's tapes helped Ray gain some much needed leverage, but I don't see how it's going to work out in his favor in the long run. Nothing good seems to come from Ezra.

It's kind of the same for Mickey. Every single time he appears on the scene, he has lofty demands for his kids. That's no way to treat your loved ones.

The sole reason he headed back home was because he was fleeced for the money. It's not like Mickey to be the butt of a joke. Right?!

I can't have been the only one who felt super uncomfortable when the chick who gave him a ride home had that demand for him. She seemed to be trying way too hard, so it made me think she was going to be an enemy.

I was wrong. All she wanted was a good time and was willing to drive to get it.

Ray's quest for safety even had him going to an old enemy. That enemy was Ed, and he made Ray sing for his help.

Yes, you guys. Liev Schrieber totally sang his heart out. It did feel like a very odd scene, but the episode did feel pretty disjointed. It was kind of like the editor realized that all logic was already thrown out the window so threw it in for good measure.

There's no denying that the show has been rocky recently, but it seemed like we were on to something good on Ray Donovan Season 4 Episode 3

It's just a shame that this hour ruined some of that momentum. Abby is one of my favorite characters, but I just couldn't fathom what she was up to.

She told Lena and her pal to do one, yet left her front door wide open and was shocked when they walked in. What was that even all about?

As the hour progressed, it was clear that Abby just needed to let her hair down a little, but I didn't think that would mean kissing the chick who was trying to help her come to terms with her situation.

It was at least a little surprising that she opened up to Ray about the whole thing straight after. I thought she'd keep that to herself, but it shows the two of them have turned a corner. Let's hope Ray will start being completely honest with her.

"Federal Boobie Inspector" wasn't a great installment of this Showtime drama. Hopefully the show will pick up the pace and be more consistent before it's too late.
