The Blacklist Season 4 Episode 5 Review: The Lindquist Concern

Red or Alexander? Who can Liz really trust?

Red may seem hell bent on taking out Alexander, but he’s also trying to get Agnes back. And then there’s Alexander, who according to a DNA test is actually Liz’s father, but he’s not giving up Agnes.

I’d much rather trust the FBI task force of Harold, Ressler, Samar and Aram at this point.

Not surprisingly, The Blacklist Season 4 Episode 5 waited until the last moments to tease some key pieces of information, the big one seemingly being the definitive reveal of Liz’s father.

Does that finally put to bed the theory that Red is Liz’s father? Probably not, but it would be nice to get some real answers involving Liz’s past and her connection to Red.

At this point, I feel like a broken record for saying it, but it’s The Blacklist Season 4! Time for some answers!

Of course, it looks like we’ll have to wait on that, as Red wasn’t too keen on saying much of anything when Liz confronted him.

He better say something quick though, because she may stop feeling in the middle and pick a side pretty soon.

But what is his plan after getting the info regarding that key piece of revolutionary technology? Will that be the key to defeating Alexander? Or is that for something else?

At least when it comes to Tom, as of right now, it’s pretty clear what his goals are. He’s not trying to be deceptive or hold secrets. He’s all about getting his daughter back.

And I was glad to see that Liz and Tom had made up after their fight over his failed mission to get Agnes. She knew he was trying to do what was best, and it was good to see her on his side when it came to getting some information on Alexander and/or Agnes.

Plus, considering the disagreements Ressler and Tom have had, it was a good change of pace to have Ressler helping Tom.

It didn’t quite work out in getting back Agnes, but it was a step in the right direction. And it wound up saving Red in the nick of time.

And I bet Red thought he was the guy who is always one step ahead...

The blacklister was just an OK bad guy. I understood his grudge and focusing on inventions was a different take, but it wasn’t as investing as everything else going on.

At least it was good to see the FBI task force working together to get their mission completed. And Samar was even willing to help out Aram’s girlfriend?

Is that why you're calling me? For dating advice?

Samar

Though I definitely noticed her saying there wasn’t something quite right about her. I know that maybe there’s a hint of jealousy in there, and Ressler sort of called it out, but there’s going to be some twist involving her.

I sort of hope not, because that’s going to break Aram’s heart.

At the same time I can’t help but think of Dembe feeling guilty and trying to seek forgiveness with regard to Mr. Kaplan. We may not have seen her this episode, but Dembe’s comments definitely resonated. Will Dembe stick to Team Red?

If anything, “The Lindquist Concern” had me ready to get some answers, get Agnes back, and end this cat and mouse game with Alexander Kirk. It’s time for a win in Liz’s book, and I’m ready for some forward progress.

But will Agnes survive the whole ordeal? Should Liz pick Alexander to trust? Or should she stay with Red? Sound off below, and be sure to watch The Blacklist online now.

NOTE: The Blacklist Season 4 Episode 6, “The Thrushes,” airs Oct. 27 at 10 p.m.
