The Vampire Diaries Round Table: Goodbye, Lorenzo St. John

Does Stefan deserve to die?

That's something our panelists think about after The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 11, which featured the death of Enzo.

TV Fanatics Mandy Treccia, Justin Carreiro and Paul Dailly discuss Enzo's demise, Matt's rude comments and who else will fall before the series concludes.

What did you think of Enzo dying?

Mandy: I am devastated. But not surprised. As soon as they started his bucket list day, I assumed it would end this way. He deserved better.

Justin: My heart is broken. I didn’t want him to die. However, similar to what Mandy said, the second they were going through his bucket list, I figured a goodbye was a possibility.

Paul: Bonnie Bennett really has the worst luck, but I think her magic has returned and she'll find a way to get her happy ending. Whether that means creating an afterlife for her and Enzo, I have no idea.

Will Stefan die as a human?

Mandy: Yes. He'll die so Damon can have the cure and be with Elena. It'll bring them full circle from Stefan forcing him to turn into a vampire. Stefan will get to be a hero one last time.

Justin: He better! Stefan has constantly gone back and forth with being good and evil. This is the point now where he can’t hide behind his actions of having no humanity; I have a feeling his end is coming.

Paul: Hopefully. There was a time when I rooted for him, but now, I don't care if he lives or dies. I just can't deal with more heartbreak for these characters.

Bringing Down the Falls - The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 10

Do you feel like Bonnie should have got her happy ending with Enzo?

Mandy: YES. Bonnie does nothing but make sacrifices for her friends. She died for them more than once. Literally. She deserves happiness.

Justin: Bonnie keeps suffering on this show. She’s always helping her friends or giving too much of herself, like with her life. This is was so cruel to her. Bonnie deserved a happy ending.

Paul: Bonnie deserves a happy ending over anyone else on this show. She's the go-to person if someone needs help and it needs to stop.

Happy Times - The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 11

How will Caroline react to Stefan murdering Enzo?

Mandy: She loves Stefan so she'll forgive him. Caroline's made peace with the fact that she'll choose Stefan over the moral high ground. And I'm okay with that because at least she admits it.

Justin: I agree with Mandy that Caroline will forgive him, but in my heart I hope she doesn’t. I mean...STEFAN KILLED HER BEST FRIEND’S LOVE! She should choose her friend now, not some guy. Stefan does not deserve her forgiveness or a happy ending with her.

Paul: It will take time, but she'll forgive him. However, Stefan will likely die soon.

Who else will die before the series is over?

Mandy: Dorian rejecting Caroline's insurance policy moves him higher up the list of likely candidates. Stefan (see above). And Bonnie has to die in order for Elena to come back.

Justin: Stefan for all the reasons above, Matt seems like a possibility since he’s getting more prominence in the town’s history and Cade’s interference, and Bonnie as well.

Paul: I have a feeling Matt will die. He's survived so long as a human and his increased prominence this year would make his death more shocking.

Donovan and His Dad - The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 7

Were Matt's comments to Caroline about being "the darkness" a step too far?

Mandy: Matt is the worst. Last week, he started to make peace with Damon, but now he's anti-Caroline? He can't have it both ways. I'm tired of his self-righteous speeches.

Justin: Matt needs to take a seat and calm down. He keeps causing trouble and trying to assert himself as the moral authority. He needs to remember that these people are his friends; he grew up with them. He’s just being mean.

Paul: Yes, he was horrible. Caroline could not help that she was turned into a vampire. She had no say in the matter.

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 11 Quotes

Damon: Update from the outside world.
Stefan: I don't care.
Damon: I do. I care so much it hurts, but it's a good kind of hurt because my lovely humanity is back on and I'm seeing the world through rose colored glasses.

Bonnie: Meet Justin Timberlake, audition for American Idol, be on MTV's Spring Break.
Enzo: High aspirations, indeed.
Bonnie: Okay, don't mock my tweener self.
