These parents are evil! I can't believe it. Do anyone of them actually care about Polly or the baby?

The young mother-to-be is found on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 7, but she was better off alone.

All they want to do is take the baby away. No one has a heart.

Polly is alone, pregnant and in serious need of vitamins. The only safe space she has is an attic. And yet Betty is the only one who cares about her wellbeing and welcoming her home.

There's a reason why Betty is one of my favorite characters, and Riverdale Season 1 Episode 7 cemented this. The love she has for her sister is driving her forward. It's a true sisterly bond.

She starts a search party. She finds Polly a place to live. She tries to get her money. Let's all face it: Betty is the sweetest. (Even though she's had her "Petty Betty" moments as on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 2.)

Betty: Polly, everyone's worried sick. Why did you leave the home? You could've really hurt yourself.
Polly: I couldn't just stay there, waiting for someone who was never going to show. Jason and I, we had a plan to go to this farm upstate and raise the baby. It's where I still want to go, but I don't have any money. I don't have anything.
Betty: Why don't you just stay here?
Polly: Mom and Dad want me to give the baby up for adoption. They made that very clear, and that's not what I want.
Betty: Well this is their grandchild, Polly, and everyone knows your pregnant now. There's no more stigma.
Polly: You don't know what they'll do. And I won't have my baby raised in a home that doesn't want it.
Betty: Polly, give me a few days. I'll find you someplace safe here in Riverdale. Please, Polly. I cannot lose you again.

Is Alice Cooper an evil mastermind? She would give comic book villains a run for their money.

If there was ever a moment that confirmed this, it would be her impromptu press conference. She's kept Polly's condition a secret since pre-series, and now she drops the bomb like it's nothing. Alice is a manipulator, and I love to hate her!

Mädchen Amick, who portrays Alice, must love playing this character. She's electric, despicable, and she gets some seriously evil lines. She is a character in control and does whatever to get what she wants.

The best is when she feeds off of other characters, like Hermione or Mrs. Blossom.

Did you expect both mothers would plot to take the baby? I didn't. I thought they had some humanity in them.

Alice Cooper and Mrs. Blossom are two sides of the same coin. Both manipulated the people around them to get what they ultimately wanted: The Cooper-Blossom baby. Luckily neither won.

Though, Alice Cooper (and her husband) surprised me the most. Mrs. Blossom, evil as she may be, would've raised the baby while the Coopers were STILL planning to give it up, even though everyone knew about it now. Her reasoning didn't make sense.

Does she hate Jason (and any reminder of him) that much?!

On the bright side, I need more scenes of Mrs. Cooper and Mrs. Blossom together. It gives me life whenever they're spouting cutting remarks to each other. Their onscreen chemistry is perfection.

During the search party and press conference, I enjoyed the cinematography and design choices of the scene. Having the large groups split down the middle made it seem like a battle was coming. It was a great symbolic look of the war between the Blossoms and the Coopers.

Is anyone else impressed by Cheryl's actions?

She made a nice, selfless move by helping Polly and Betty get away. Her parents could've taken the baby and raised it, but she chose to give Polly a chance. Regardless of how mean Cheryl can sometimes be, she has a heart deep down.

On the plus side, she knows how to use it to get what she wants and manipulate in the process. She's sticking around and continuing to rule the River Vixens!

Veronica: What?

Veronica's way of rebelling against her mother seemed a tad childish. It didn't fit the style of the character. She went smoothly back into spoiled girl mode.

Everything during these scenes felt a bit too forced. Both Veronica and Hermione already knew what was going to happen; they could've skipped all the dancing and underage drinking to go right to the bargaining. Even in a dance club, the plot lacked energy.

Though, we did get a truly genuine moment from Veronica/Camila Mendes that could be one of my favorites.

Veronica: When my dad got arrested, the police...the lawyers...the judge...the courts...they took everything from us. Our houses, our cars, our club memberships, our yacht. Even, I'm not kidding, the clothes off our backs. Anyway, my mom sat me down at the edge of my canopy bed and she told me not to cry, because there was one thing in this world that nobody could take away from me. Not ever.
Reggie: Your trust fund?
Veronica: My name, Reggie. Which after telling me "Nobody would ever take it," that is EXACTLY what she did! Like it meant nothing. Like it was nothing. Like I was nothing.

Let's get this out of the way: Betty and Jughead's romance might be winning me over. (There, I said it!)

We saw a few touching moments between the characters when they were at their lowest. I liked how they comforted each other and the subtle progression of their romance. It's not too spontaneous or rushed. This relationship is taking its time; I like that.

And yes, they do look cute together.

Speaking of Jughead, does anyone else agree he's had a rough week? It doesn't seem to get better. I feel bad for him.

Kudos to the writers for showcasing some subtle nuances to the relationships between the kids and their parents. The dinner at the diner highlighted a stark difference between the lives of Archie and Jughead. While Archie became the all-American boy-next-door, Jughead became the reserved kid who learned to hide his father's bottle.

The quick moment of Jughead hiding the bottle in the couch broke my heart. It's obvious that this moment has also happened in the past.

Archie: How long?
Jughead: Well, since they shut down the drive-in. That's where I was living before.
Archie: Why the hell aren't you living at home?
Jughead: Truth is things aren't great at home.
Archie: With your dad?
Jughead: Yeah. He kinda fell off the wagon. After your dad fired him to tell you the truth. He hasn't had a job since. He keeps promising that he will get his act together, but my mom couldn't take that roller coaster anymore. So, she grabbed Jellybean and went to live with our grandparents.
[School bell rings]
Archie: God Jug, why didn't you tell me? And where does your dad think you are?
Jughead: He thinks I'm couch-surfing.
Archie: Screw that! Live with me.
Jughead: It's temporary. I'm going to figure something out. Just don't tell anybody, especially not Betty.
Archie: Betty? She's not going to care. If anybody's gonna to be a snob about that, maybe Veronica.
Jughead: Well, exactly. Don't tell her either.

His dad needs to get his act together. He blames Fred for all the troubles in his life, but at some point, he should blame himself. I mean, he's a proud Southside Serpent!

I'm not sure if dad will get clean in time. However, Jughead getting a happy ending is on my wishlist. Hopefully, his dad can turn things around.

Was Sheriff Keller's reasoning to consider Jughead a suspect a strong one?

I've defended the Sheriff in my review for Riverdale Season 1 Episode 6, but there is seriously something wrong with the parents on Riverdale. They keep flip flopping from good to evil. He's using Jughead's past and upbringing as a reason why he committed the murders. There's no way Jughead is involved.

It is clearly a desperate ploy by the Sheriff to have a suspect. No circumstantial evidence or profiling would convict Jughead. I expected better from him.

Jason Blossom's missing letterman jacket has been found, and it's in Mr. Jones's closet. Did he hide it there or was it by someone else?

My guess is that the father will play a part in the mystery. He could be the one supplying Jason with the drugs to sell. He doesn't seem like a murderer, though. But with the season half over, anything could be possible.
