But it seems that Hakeem's big birthday bash-slash-concert doesn't go entirely as planned. Is this part of Nessa's revenge, or does it have something to do with Anika's secret meeting with Tariq?

Well, no...because they haven't met yet. Or at least, they haven't met yet as far as we know. Nia Long hinted in interviews that Giuliana Green is a character from Lucious Lyon's shady past...is she one from Cookie's as well?

Hey, remember that time Anika threw a pregnant lady down the stairs to force her to miscarry, and then later threw her off a balcony in a fight and killed her? It's hard to feel bad for her and the predicament she's gotten herself into now. She's nearly as bad as the man she married!

This set of photos is disappointingly light on shots of Cookie dressed to the nines, so this one of her in a shaggy teal fur coat will have to suffice.

Well, apparently Giuliana is as perpetually smug as Andre, so I'm sure they're going to get along like a house on fire. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to light someone's house on fire. I'd be even less surprised if said house belonged to Lucious.

This episode is set to feature Hakeem's 21st birthday party, which sounds guaranteed to be the most hilarious party imaginable. From this photo, I can see they've resurrected the excellent Hakeem version of the Empire logo for the occasion, of which I wholeheartedly approve.

Jamal makes a bad fashion choice - Empire Season 3 Episode 12
This shirt is hideous, plain and simple. Perhaps Jamal's birthday gift to his little brother was to make himself look like a total dork in comparison. There is no other excuse for wearing a shirt with glowing music notes on it.

Unlike Jamal, Tiana looks absolutely fabulous, so at least one of them brought their style game to Hakeem's big day.

Serayah looks amazing as always, but i feel bad for the backup dancers who got stuck in those silly Statue of Liberty outfits. They look like they should be handing out flyers for discounted tour bus tickets on Fifth Avenue.

It's always nice to see Jamal and Hakeem getting along. The two of them could create some great music together if they'd just stop feuding and competing for a moment.

It wouldn't be a Lyon family celebration without at least one person looking highly distraught about something. I'm going to assume it involves Nessa and Andre seeking revenge after these two crashed Nessa's showcase.

What do you think just happened to make Jamal, Hakeem and Tiana look so stressed out? Are Cookie and Lucious fighting in front of everyone again? Is Nessa prancing around, trying to steal the show? Did Anika bring the fed along to the celebration as a plus one?
