Shades of Blue Round Table: Loman's Betrayal

at .

Loman hit a new low, Stahl got schooled, and Wozniak walked in front of a bus on Shades of Blue Season 2 Episode 8.

Our TV Fanatics Jasmine Blu, Stacy Glanzman, and Christine Orlando debate how long Stahl will stay away, if they thought Wozniak would wear the wire, and Loman’s confession to Nate after “Unpaid Debts.”

Is Harlee’s leverage (the recording) enough to keep Stahl at bay?

Jasmine: Unfortunately, I don't think it is. If anything, he'll come at them even harder. He has proven before that he doesn't take kindly to being bent over a barrel.

Stacy: You mean do I think they've won and don't have to worry about him anymore? Nope, not even close. It was a big win, but mostly it's just buying them time. Stahl is going to be so furious, and I honestly don't know how much lower he can stoop, but we're about to find out.

Christine: For a day, maybe. Stahl is a misogynist and a sociopath. Having someone, especially a woman, one up him will only make him more determined to reassert his control. Stahl is a man with no boundaries or moral compass and he’s going to get his revenge.

What’s your reaction to Loman spilling the beans to Nate about his father?

Jasmine: I can't stand Loman! He's always irked me to my very core, but after all of this, I no longer have an ounce of respect for him. If he's so disgusted with everything and everyone why not leave, or transfer, or talk to I.A? Why meddle with Woz's family? And if he outed Woz to Nate, I will be pissed.

Stacy: Yeah, Loman definitely annoyed the crap out of me this week. How could he be so stupid as to say things on tape that will without a doubt come back to bite him in the ass? He's going to regret it if he can't get that tape back and Woz finds out.

Christine: I know this team has done some horrible things, yet what Loman did disgusted me. That he’d take his anger and frustration out on Woz’s family was a new low and I lost all respect for him.

Was returning the car to the drug dealer in order to free Wallace the right move?

Jasmine: For this crew? Yeah. It seemed like their best move. It certainly was Wallace's best move.

Stacy: I agree with Jasmine. It seemed like the right move.

Christine: In order to save Wallace, yes. Despite what Loman said, I don’t think they really had another option.

Did you think Wozniak would wear the wire and get Julia to incriminate herself?

Jasmine: I thought he would struggle a great deal and eventually go through with it because he had no other options.

I didn't anticipate him walking in front of a bus. Holy cow, that got me!

Stacy: I honestly really wasn't sure. I knew that was the last thing he wanted to do, but as time was running out, I wondered if maybe he'd go through with it and then try to find a way to get the recording back before Stahl could use it. That would have been much more complicated though, so I'm glad they didn't go there.

Christine: Yeah, I thought he’d eventually break down and wear the wire because I didn’t see another option. But like he said in this Shades of Blue quote, he’s simply incapable of doing it. So much so that he’d rather kill himself…

I can't choose to be a rat just like I can't choose to breathe under water. It's just not gonna happen.

Finding Molly - Shades of Blue Season 2 Episode 8

What was your favorite quote or scene from Shades of Blue Season 2 Episode 8?

Jasmine: Any scene and quote where someone called Loman out for pretending to be morally superior when he's just as dirty as the rest of them. He's literally killed two people and covered it up. It's time for him to get the chip off his shoulder and stop acting like he's a victim.

You can whine, you can sulk, you can lecture, you can make all the judgements you want, it doesn't change the fact that you're a dirty cop. Ever since you killed that unarmed black man and lied about it, you became a dirty cop.

Wozniak

Kudos to Tofu and Woz calling him out on this self-righteous kick he's on.

Stacy: The entire scene between Woz and Harlee when she told him not making a choice is still a choice, and him asking her how she was able to do it. It was an intense and emotional moment between them.

Wozniak: How? How did you do it? Wear a wire, how did you do that?
Harlee: I threw up. I never felt so alone in my life, but then I reminded myself what I have to live for and I focused on that and nothing else. You just have to remind yourself what you have to live for.
Wozniak: I'm not sure anymore.

Christine: I did love Harlee sticking it to Stahl at the end. I know her victory will be short lived but it was a hell of a great scene watching her walk past Molly as she left.
