The Originals Season 4 Episode 4 Review: Keepers of the House

at .  Updated at .

The Hollow is a force to be reckoned with in New Orleans.

The race was on to save the children on The Originals Season 4 Episode 4 and turned out to be another solid episode of this CW series.

Let's start with everyone mostly teaming up to save the children of New Orleans. It must have been tough for everyone involved.

There's been so much said and done over the years that the very notion of the likes of Vincent, Klaus, Marcel, Elijah and Hayley joining forces seemed like something that would happen when hell froze over.

The drama is always at its best on this series when crazy power struggles are going on. In this case, that power struggle was the differing factions of the French Quarter branching off to do their own thing.

Lara's comments about Marcel being the ruler of the city were true, but I have to give props to Marcel for not treating the residents of the town the way he did when The Originals Season 1 premiered.

If you watch The Originals online, you will probably remember him back then being cutthroat and wanting to assert just how powerful he was. Ultimately, that signaled the beginning of him losing his grip on the people of the town.

Nowadays, he's stronger than ever and is at least trying to keep things running smoothly in the Quarter. Charles Michael Davis turned in a solid performance as his alter-ego made his way over to the dark side.

Will Vincent Survive? - The Originals

All of the stuff with The Hollow is fascinating. This villain appearing practically out of thin air and making people do whatever the heck it wants is going to make the rest of the season very interesting.

I finally got the confirmation I needed to come to the conclusion that Klaus would not take Marcel out of the equation.

Klaus telling his frenemy not to look at the blue light was all the confirmation I needed. If Klaus wanted to take out Marcel, he would have kept quiet and let the darkness overtake him.

However, it seems like the blue light does not have to be looked at to consume its target. Hope was terrified at the prospect of Klaus being under the spell of this new villain.

The Hollow are the people who have no qualms about kidnapping all the children in the city to get their point across. They are ruthless, and the Mikaelsons are just lucky that Vincent managed to figure out the loophole to keep everyone alive.

It would not have surprised me if Vincent used it as an opportunity to get rid of Elijah.

It was evident from the get-go that they hated each other. Vincent was still scorned by the way Elijah handled things with Davina's death.

This also paved the way for a conversation I was not expecting.

Hayley confirmed that the family needs to start thinking about other people and stop killing innocent people to keep them alive.

That was a bold statement; one that meanders considerably from the "Always and Forever" stuff the Mikaelsons regularly chant whenever they feel the need to end someone's life.

Whether this little nugget will extent to Klaus, we'll probably find out over the course of the next few episodes. His reaction is not going to be the most pleasant.

You could tell Klaus was thankful for Vincent's help, but it would not have been all that surprising if he turned on Vincent at the last second when he got what he wanted.

Klaus has a knack for going back on his word, but it sure seems like he has changed his ways and I'm loving the character development for him.

Also, I LOVE that he no longer gets involved with Hayley and Elijah's relationship.

There was a time in which he would find ways to get between them to make sure they were only a thing under his terms. The controlling element of Klaus has waned.

Locked Up - The Originals Season 4 Episode 3

While the rest of the family were out on the field, Freya and Keelin joined forces, and their friendship took an interesting turn.

Freya was brutal to Keelin on The Originals Season 4 Episode 3

She did not give a damn about the pain the werewolf was in. Instead, she cared more about extracting all of the venom necessary from her body.

With that in mind, it sure looks like the two women could become romantically linked. For a start, their chemistry is off the charts.

Also, Hayley would probably be happy at more were wolfs sticking around the family in the event things go awry in the battle with The Hollow.

Finally, Will's death was hardly shocking, or even intriguing. He's been a terribly written character since he first appeared on the show.

Jason Dohring is a great actor, but would it have hurt for him to be fleshed out on The Originals Season 3 when he first appeared?

"Keepers of the House" was another spectacular episode of this CW drama series. The episode did slow down a little bit, but it was necessary to give us all of the finer details to appreciate what was going on.

Keelin: This is a cure. It's everything I've ever wanted. What's the catch.
Freya: No catch. Insurance.
Keelin: More like a leash. A spell that I can't take off.
