The American Horror Story: Cult news has been non-stop ever since the show's new direction was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con last month. 

All of the teasers have included clowns and have been rather disturbing, but they never actually provided much insight into the characters the talented cast were playing. 

Co-creator Ryan Murphy did reveal via Instagram last week that Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters would be playing lovers, and now, we have five character posters that show Billy Eichner, Billie Lourd, Colton Haynes, Alison Pill and Cheyenne Jackson in action. 

First up is Billie Lourd, and she will be playing Winter Anderson.

This is Lourd's first time starring in the series, but she has a history of working with Murphy. 

She played Chanel #3 for two years on Fox's dearly departed Scream Queens. Her Scream Queens co-star Emma Roberts just announced her return a few days ago to the series, so they will be reuniting. 

American Horror Story Season 7 will also mark Colton's first time with the series, and he has a brand new hairstyle for the role. 

Alison Pill's photo is rather eerie. She's standing with a knife, and someone is behind her.

However, the text for her name is a different color to the others, so could this be a clue that she dies?

Maybe she's even evil. God, this show loves to keep audiences guessing. She is playing Ivy Mayfair-Richards.

Billy Eichner's poster does not give much away. He's looking at viewers with a scowl on his face. 

We can't forget the creepy clown hiding in the shadows. 

Gulp.

Yes, clowns are scary, and it was only a matter of time before a season essentially dedicated to them popped up. 

Finally, series veteran Cheyenne Jackson will be returning in a new role as Dr. Rudy Vincent.
