Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3 Episode 5 Review: Baby Proof

Thank goodness Brandy has come to her senses.
Granted, it did take a few Deadite encounters, her mother's body being desecrated, killing her reanimated grandfather, and Ash kidnapping a small child along the way. But on Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3 Episode 5, Brandy has finally seen the light.
And I couldn't be happier to see that these two are finally on the same page.
Honestly, how much longer could we have Brandy continuously pushing her father further and further away? It was becoming quite tiresome and frustrating, and Brandy was becoming downright unlikeable.

And while finding a child inside someone's trunk would be enough to send anyone running for the hills, Brandy had been through enough to put her trust in her father and see Ruby for what she really is.
Every relationship begins with trust, and now we can see these two begin developing theirs.
Ruby's little rugrat running around the house and stalking Ash was as equally hysterical as it was terrifying. The pitter patter of those tiny feet alone was chilling enough, but the added dread of that quacking toy duck was just creepy as all hell.
Although, wasn't that little chainsaw hand just so adorable?
Holy CIA., Ruby's been surveilling my ass for decades! She could have killed me anytime, anywhere.

When Ash found the photos of himself that Ruby had taken, it made me think back to my previous thoughts about why Ruby didn't just take Ash out when she had the chance?
I know she still intends to transfer Ash's power to her child, but if you have the chance to take out your nemesis, you do it.

I had hoped that Ash would somehow come across the Necronomicon, but being that Ruby was nowhere to be found, it was likely with her. There's no way she's going to leave that book out in the open.
I got a kick of mini Ash going back for his duck before continuing the hunt for Natalie. I guess he likes to have his favorite toy while chowing down on someone's face.
I don't blame Natalie for trying to take matters into her own hands, but when Ash tells you not to touch his boomstick, you do not touch his boomstick!
There are simply no words to describe what was going through my head during the whole headless body fight. If I had to choose, I suppose uncomfortable and ridiculous come to mind.
Just when you think this show can't get any crazier, Ash vs Evil Dead proceeds to deliver Ash fighting a demon baby possessing a decapitated Scandinavian woman.
As usual, Ash's quick thinking trapped the little guy inside Natalie's corpse long enough to get to Brandy. Although, it appeared that the kid had a little snack during the ride, considering that there wasn't a body in the trunk.
Which means that the next time we see Ruby's child, he'll likely be a whole lot bigger!
Now that Ruby has lost her influence over Brandy, what will her next move be? I don't think she'll give up on Brandy so easily, and I'm sure Ruby has a contingency plan ready to go.
Perhaps she may end up trying to take Brandy out of the picture altogether.
It turns out being stabbed with the Kandarian dagger is exactly what Pablo needed, as being on the brink of death enabled him to be reborn - in a sense.
It was great to have Brujo back, and I enjoyed having him serve as a guide for Pablo to push him into becoming the ultimate Brujo. I was a bit hesitant at first, thinking that this whole scenario could be a ploy by the evil taking hold of him.
That wasn't the case, and we learned that the masked woman is named Maritsa, whom Brujo sent to try and get Pablo's attention.
While it was ultimately in Pablo's hands to decide his own fate, did anyone think there would be any other outcome other than Pablo receiving the Brujo's power? We wouldn't have seen Pablo go through this whole ordeal without it having some sort of payoff.
I'm ready to become what I was born to be.

So now that Pablo has become the Brujo Especiale, the Necronomicon appears to have relinquished its hold over him. I for one can't wait to see what Pablo's capable of with his newfound power.
And what about that kiss from Kelly!? I always knew that deep down she had some feelings for Pablo, and it was great to finally see that hard exterior of Kelly's beginning to crack a bit.
She didn't quite get the response from Pablo that she expected, though.
Kelly: I thought I lost you, for real this time.
Pablo: Shit, where's Ash!?
Kelly: Wow, okay!
Pablo having a connection to both the Earthly plane and the Underworld will no doubt provide a huge advantage in the fight against Ruby.
Now that Pablo is likely able to give The Demon Woman of Fire a run for her money with his Brujo mojo, it only makes sense that Ruby may call in some reinforcements. Which makes me think that the release of Kaya from the Necronomicon may be imminent.
This was yet another wild and fun episode. Ruby's child stalking Ash throughout the house was genuinely terrifying at times, and the headless fight with Ash was some of the absolute craziest things Ash vs Evil Dead has done to date.
It's amazing to think that we're halfway through the season already. Time flies when you're having fun!
