The Librarians: Canceled After Four Seasons on TNT!!

at .  Updated at .

Considering the type of programming TNT has been greenlighting of late, this should be too much of a surprise.

That doesn't mean the cancelation of The Librarians after four seasons on the network is going to be any easier to bear.

TNT has made the decision not to move forward with a fifth season of the magical adventure series by Dean Devlin.

In Shock - The Librarians Season 4 Episode 10

This isn't the first time in recent history TNT has canceled a show with a large following or even decent ratings.

Rizzoli and Isles was canceled when it was still doing very well, and Major Crimes was cut when it still had a lot of story to tell, even killing its lead to ensure there wouldn't be a rebirth once the decision was made.

But The Librarians showrunner, Dean Devlin, isn't giving up that easily.

Facing off - The Librarians Season 4 Episode 11

When he got the news, Devlin took to Twitter to share the following:

Just got the official call. TNT has cancelled #TheLibrarians - I will immediately begin the process of trying to move the show elsewhere. Please keep your fingers crossed for us!

There has never been a better time for a long-running successful show to be canceled.

The streaming wars are hot. Services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and others are always trying to be one step ahead of the competition.

One Short - The Librarians Season 4 Episode 8

With the addition of Apple and their incredibly limited catalog, maybe they'll enter the fray of buying shows that have already been in production and can produce a known quantity of viewers ready to watch content that won't be up for debate.

You never know, but what we do know is that we never expected the fans of The Librarians to be as generous and grateful to the show and actors as they were. Something tells me you'll follow the librarians wherever they may lead.

Am I right?

Share your disappointment in the comments below and let us know what you'll do to help Devlin and the team find another home for the show you love.

Will you send a different artifact to each streaming service? Where do you think will be the most likely home for the series? Do you think it will be saved?

If you're feeling sad about the news, you can watch The Librarians online to remember the good times.
