Grey's Anatomy Round Table: How Will the Avery Scandal Affect GSM's Future?!

at .

On Grey's Anatomy Season 14 Episode 20 some of the gang were baked after consuming tainted baked goods, and it made for a hilarious hour.

There was also more background on the now infamous Harper Avery and his sexual harassment scandal.

Join TV Fanatics Stacy Glanzman, Paul Dailly, and Jasmine Blu as they discuss the episode!

Were you surprised by Harper Avery's history of sexual harassment? How will this affect the hospital?

Stacy: Not really, but I was a little surprised at how they tied Marie into it. Once Meredith discovered she didn't need her patent anymore, I kind of figured that story was done, but I like that there ended up being more to it. It's definitely going to be a PR nightmare for the hospital. I'm not sure how they are going to handle it.

Paul: Nope. Grey's Anatomy Season 14 has been very topical, so it was only a matter of time before a sexual harassment case threatened the hospital's existence.

It sucks that Harper was killed off earlier in the season, and he's leaving everyone else to deal with it. I agree with Stacy that it's going to be a PR nightmare, and it could pave the way for a lot of change as we head into Season 15.

Jasmine: I agree with the others, I suspected that was what the issue was, and the season has been consistently tackling current events. I was surprised that Marie tied into it.

I do think this will be a way to revitalize the series for next season as Paul said. It's one more obstacle this hospital has to overcome. With the departure of familiar faces and the potential addition of new ones, it's a great way for the series to stay fresh.

High Times at GSM

On a scale of 1-10, what would you rate the doctors being stoned? Who was your favorite doctor under the influence?

Stacy: 8. It was pretty dumb and unrealistic, but really funny, so I can let that slide. Maggie was my favorite. I loved her deadpan "I don't think I need my neck anymore." Arizona was also really funny when she forgot she knew there was pot in the cookies and believed the rat poison story.

Paul: 5. I agree with Stacy that it was unrealistic, but it was a decent story. April was the funniest for me. Her exaggerated reaction to the presentation made me laugh out loud.

Jasmine: 8. It has been a while since I laughed this much while watching an episode. It was absurd, but I loved it anyway. I was close to tears laughing at Maggie. Kelly McCreary killed this episode with her comedic timing and those quotes. April was great too, though. That peal of laughter during the presentation was priceless.

Which uncommon pairing stood out the most during the episode?

Stacy: Bailey and April. Their funeral song was hilarious! I don't know how Meredith kept a straight face during that. Maybe it took a few takes.

Paul: I have to agree. They were great together, and it's a real shame we will only have a handful of scenes like this before Sarah Drew exits.

Jasmine: I'm inclined to agree, but I'll cheat and say it's a tie between April and Bailey and Maggie and Arizona. In both instances, I found myself sad that we never got to see those particular pairs interact more over the years.

Bailey's " I have never hated you more" was priceless, as was the funeral song. Also, Maggie and Arizona calling a time of death for the test dummy on the screen.

High April and Bailey

Do you have any thoughts on Arizona referring to Carina as Callie or theories on who April is dating?

Stacy: Normally a Freudian slip like that is a sign that she's still thinking about her ex instead of her current, but in this case, I think it made Arizona realize that what she has with Carina now is similar to what she had with Callie. I think she fell for Carina faster than she was expecting, and it scared her, but she realizes that Carina is the real deal.

I don't know who April is dating. I can say that I hope it's not Matthew. It's too soon after his wife's death for him, and she broke his heart once before. I wouldn't mind if it was Tom. They had decent chemistry.

Paul: To me, I felt like it made her realize that Carina is not Callie, and never will be. I think it set up Arizona to exit for New York to be closer to Callie and attempt to try and work things out. As for April, I think it's Koracick. Matthew would be far too obvious, and that relationship will not stand the test of time.

Jasmine: Yeah, I took it to mean that she hasn't felt this way about anyone since Callie, so she's taken aback by how much she's fallen for Carina. I think that's awesome because I like the two of them together.

It has to be Tom. Unless it's some random guy we didn't see yet, it most definitely has to be Tom. I think April and Matthew could be a thing down the road, but I wouldn't expect them to be dating right now so soon after his wife died and everything. I hope it's Tom; I adored their chemistry together.

Is Owen ready for fatherhood? Do you care either way?

Stacy: I still think Amelia is pregnant. They may end up raising two babies soon. But no, I don't really care either way. The baby was cute but with so many out of commission surgeons, I would have rather seen Owen at the hospital helping out.

Paul: I wasn't on board with this plot initially because it felt so out of the left field. However, I enjoyed Owen and Amelia together trying to get a handle on things. Owen is ready, but he's going to need some support. I would love if Amelia were pregnant, but I don't see it happening.

Jasmine: I do kind of like the idea of Amelia helping Owen out with single fatherhood but only as friends. It was weird that he was given a kid so soon, and on top of that, it was a baby. Good for him, though.

What was your favorite quote and/or scene from the episode?

Stacy: Maggie freaking out about losing the liver and the previously mentioned funeral song were the highlights for me.

Paul: My favorite scene was Alex answering the door when he was instructed to go into hiding. That could have put the brakes on Owen becoming a father, but Alex's claim about looking over the kid was far too funny.

Jasmine: The liver, the bagpipes, and Amelia giving Jo a goodie bag for Alex when they left made me laugh so hard.
