Last Man Standing Adds Molly McCook and Jet Jurgensmeyer in Recasting

Last Man Standing is being revived at Fox over a year after its ABC cancellation, but two characters will have brand new faces.

The sitcom is adding Molly McCook and Jet Jurgensmeyer to the cast of Last Man Standing Season 7.

McCook will play the role of Mandy. Molly Ephraim played the character when the show was on ABC, but Ephraim decided against returning when the show was revived.

Jurgensmeyer is taking over from Flynn Morrison in the role of Boyd. While Ephraim's departure was a decision from the actress, it sounds like Morrison's was down to producers wanting the character of Boyd to be older.

McCook has a TV resume that includes The Ranch, Modern Family, Glee, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Good Trouble, the spinoff of The Fosters

Jurgensmeyer is probably most well-known for his role on Will & Grace as Jack's grandson.

As for the returning actors, Tim Allen, Nancy Travis (Vanessa), Amanda Fuller (Kristin), Jonathan Adams (Chuck), Christoph Sanders (Kyle), Jordan Masterson (Ryan) and Hector Elizondo (Ed) have all closed deals to appear in the revival.

Last Man Standing was still pulling respectable ratings when ABC canceled it in May 2017. CMT was said to be in talks to save it last summer, but the talks quickly fell through.

“Last Man Standing ended too soon, and the outcry from the fans has been deafening,” Fox TV chairmen and CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden said in a statement in May when news broke that the series was making a comeback.

“We’ve wanted to put the show back together since its final taping a year ago, and Tim never gave up hope, either. Thanks to its millions of devoted viewers and the irrepressible Tim Allen, we haven’t seen the last of Last Man Standing.”

With the success of Roseanne, it was only a matter of time before a network found a way to bring Last Man Standing back.

Last Man Standing returns Friday, September 28.
