Daredevil Canceled After Three Seasons at Netflix

Daredevil will not return for a fourth season at Netflix.

The streaming giant has confirmed the hit Marvel drama series has been canceled after three seasons.

"Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix. We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note," Netflix said in a statement.

"We’re thankful to our partners at Marvel, showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years.

"While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel."

The cancellation comes just weeks after both Iron Fist and Luke Cage were canceled following their second seasons. Given that the two series were not as popular as Daredevil, the original entry into Netflix's Marvel Universe was widely expected to snag a fourth season renewal.

The move leaves just Jessica Jones and The Punisher as the shows left in the Netflix-Marvel franchise. It's certainly a worrying trend to cut shows off too soon, and it appears that there are issues between Marvel and Netflix as negotiations seem to be falling apart left, right, and center

Production on Jessica Jones Season 3 is currently underway, while The Punisher Season 2 has already completed production, but there's now a good chance these will serve as the final seasons of both series if the relationship between Marvel and Netflix continues to deteriorate.

There's no word yet on whether any of the canceled Marvel dramas could pop back up down the line via Disney's new streaming service, Disney+, which is slated to launch during 2019.

Daredevil Quotes

Karen: Can I ask a personal question?
Matt: I haven't always been blind.
Karen: I guess that's what everyone wants to know.
Matt: That or, "How do you comb your hair?"

I'm not seeking penance for what I've done, Father. I'm asking for forgiveness... for what I'm about to do.
