Riverdale Is Doing a Musical Episode of Heathers

at .

The Riverdale teens will be taking a break from trying to unmask cult leaders, and the other strange things going on in town for a momentous occasion.

The CW has confirmed an upcoming installment of the hit drama will feature the kids staging another musical.

Riverdale Season 3 will feature an episode dedicated to Heathers: The Musical.

The episode will air March 20 at 8/7c and will include nine songs from the off-broadway adaptation that launched in 2010.

Josie will lead the cast as Veronica, while Sweet Pea will take on the role of J.D.

The three Heathers will be played by Cheryl, Betty, and Veronica, with Archie and Reggie playing jocks Kurt and Ram.

The biggest shocker from the above cast list is that the production is sponsored by The Farm.

Yeah, that's not going to go down well with just about anyone. It's unclear whether the entire installation will be musical, or if there will be other things going on.

That said, the Carrie-themed musical from Riverdale Season 2 had some big twists that changed the course of the series.

Riverdale Season 2 Episode 18 Review: A Night to Remember

“Last year, we had a blast doing Carrie,” executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said in a statement.

“This year, we wanted to honor another iconic teen movie. Heathers: The Musical is BIG FUN, with great roles for the Riverdale kids. And everyone is singing…”

That means we'll be getting to here Jughead Jones belting one of the songs out. Yes, it's hard to believe it, but the teenager has yet to sing on the show.

"Chapter Fifty-One: Big Fun" is the title of the episode, and it sounds freaking awesome!

Riverdale Quotes

Cheryl: Well, well, well. Stop the presses! The Riverdale rag finally reported a story accurately. Not only is there going to some hideous janky parade snaking its way through town, you four are the architects of this outrage.
Veronica: What’s your problem, Cheryl?
Cheryl: My problem, Veronica, is that the Fourth of July is a day of tragedy for Riverdale. Not celebration. Or have you forgotten what happened to my poor brother Jason?
Betty: Cheryl, Riverdale hasn’t held a parade out of respect for what happened to your brother in like years. It’s time.
Jughead: I mean, you don’t have to come.
Cheryl: Oh, I’ll be there, Insufferable Smurf. Front and center. With a sign of protest in one hand and a horn of compressed air to silence any revelry in the other.

Kevin: Okay, Veronica, I’m obsessed with everything that just happened.
Veronica: Thank you! It helps to be off-book and in full costume.
Betty: Don’t be so modest, you are the literally embodiment of Chris. Never has a role been perfectly typecast.
Archie: Betty!
Veronica: What was that, Betty?
Betty: I mean think about it: Spoiled rich girl, check. Major daddy issues, check. Bad to the bone, trying to control everyone around her, including her boyfriend and best friend. Check, check, check.
