It's back, and there are more twists than ever!

The Handmaid's Tale Season 3 got underway on Hulu earlier today, and The Handmaid's Tale Season 3 Episode 1 delivered many twists.

Set Up and Humiliated - The Handmaid's Tale Season 3 Episode 1

One of which found Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) setting fire to the Waterford home a handful of scenes after learning that June (Elisabeth Moss) had put Nichole in Emily's care to flee Gilead.

While it seemed like Serena Joy was going to fall victim to the fire, June stepped in and urged her to get to safety.

In doing so, June forged a bond with Serena Joy, and if you've watched the official trailer for the current season, you know the two women are going to get even closer as they aim to fight back.

"It's one of those things that had to happen," Moss revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"There isn't a scene in that Waterford house we haven't done, there isn't a place we haven't been."

"There's no reason for June to be in that house anymore; there's no way she can be in that house."

Added Showrunner Bruce Miller: "It was the exorcism aspect of getting rid of the house that really attracted us to the idea of closure and moving on."

"It's also something that's very disruptive to the characters."

Strahovski has similar sentiments on the matter.

"In my mind, for Serena, it feels like things are so bad, she's just so numb from being so emotional about what she's done – perhaps she's in a place where she's unable to forgive herself and forgive Fred and everything around her," the actress said to the website.

"She just doesn't care anymore. It's a move in rebellion, coming out of this numbness, where she just doesn't give a shit about the consequences anymore."

Comforting Nicole - The Handmaid's Tale Season 2 Episode 12

It was quite the change of pace, and with the Waterford home no longer being featured on the show, it certainly makes one wonder how June will come into contact with some of the characters she spent time with there.

Alas, The Handmaid's Tale Season 3 Episode 2 and The Handmaid's Tale Season 3 Episode 3 are already available to stream, so there may be some answers in those episodes!

What did you think of the premiere? Are you on board with the new direction?

Aunt Lydia: Remember your scripture; blessed are the meek.
Offred: And blessed are those who suffer for the cause of righteousness for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. I remember.

A priest, a doctor, a gay man. I think I heard that joke once. This wasn't the punchline.
