Surveillance: Sophia Bush Pilot Not Moving Forward at CBS

Sophia Bush's Surveillance is not moving forward at CBS.

The pilot was apparently a hit in early testing, according to Variety, but it was apparently not a good fit for the Eye network.

The proposed series would have centered on the head of communications for the NSA, a charming operative who finds her loyalties torn between protecting the government’s secrets and her own.

In addition to Bush, the pilot's cast included Allen Leech, Dennis Haysbert, Raphael Acloque, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Matthew Modine, Nick Blood, Spencer Moss, Tina Huang, Judith Scott, Brian Markinson, and Catherine Curtin.

David C. White, who wrote the pilot, confirmed the sad news on Twitter over the weekend.

“Super bummed Surveillance won’t be going forward, but what an incredible experience it has been working with all of these amazing people,” he wrote.

“My girl @SophiaBush is the QUEEN. I wish you all could see what she did with Maddy. It was the joy of a lifetime to witness it."

"I cannot wait for the next show we make together. She is my sister and I will ride a horse into the sun for us to work together again.”

Bush's last regular TV role was on NBC's Chicago PD.

She starred as Erin Lindsay from 2014-17.

Bush has had appearances in the likes of Alex, Inc, Jane the Virgin, and Easy since. Surveillance was billed as her big return to the small screen.

CBS recently picked up Carol's Second Act, Bob Hearts Abishola, Broke, The Unicorn, All Rise, Evil, FBI: Most Wanted, and Tommy to series.

The decision on Surveillance being delayed made a pick-up a long-shot, but it was still said to be in contention.

It's unclear at this stage whether the pilot could jump to another network, or even a streaming home, which is not uncommon.

As for Bush, she can next be seen in opposite Patriot star Michael Dorman in the upcoming movie, Hard Luck Love Song.

"It follows Jesse (Dorman), a charismatic but down-on-his-luck troubadour, who finds himself at an existential crossroads as his bad decisions catch up with him," according to the logline.

"His world spins into further upheaval after a chance encounter with Carla (Bush), an old flame."

"Their toxic past, Carla’s own personal demons, and Jesse’s current troubles threaten to destroy their blissful reunion."
