The Walking Dead Casts Comic Character Dante

The Walking Dead is bringing another fan-favorite from the comic books to life.

Juan Javier Cardenas has joined the cast of the tenth season of the AMC hit as Dante.

In the comic books of which the TV series is based on, Dante first shows up on in issue #131.

He quickly emerges as a love interest for Maggie (Lauren Cohan), but Maggie is not ready to move on with someone else following the death of Glenn.

As time passes, Maggie winds up in a relationship with Dante, but there's no telling whether the relationship will play out on the TV show.

Cohan bowed out as Maggie during The Walking Dead Season 9 with an off-screen exit that suggested she was off helping new emerging communities.

Cohan left to join the cast of ABC's Whiskey Cavalier, but the series was canceled after one season, leading to reports that she could return to her old stomping grounds.

What we do know is that showrunner, Angela Kang is already working on bringing Cohan back to the series, but no details beyond that have been revealed.

Kang confirmed back in July to Entertainment Weekly that Dante would be arriving on the series, and she even dished some of the details.

"He’s actually a love interest of Maggie,” the showrunner teased of the comic book character.

“But in our world, the context is a little different, and he will play an important role in the story in Alexandria. So we’re excited about that.”

There's still no confirmation whether Cohan will be back in any capacity, but it's good to know the door has not been completely closed and that there might be more storylines for Maggie.

As for Juan, he is probably most well known for his roles in Snowfall and SWAT.

As we head towards this landmark season of The Walking Dead, there are many changes in store.
