How to Get Away with Murder Season 6 Episode 7 Review: I'm the Murderer

at .  Updated at .

And just like that, we've jumped a month into the future.

How to Get Away with Murder Season 6 Episode 7 picked up four weeks after Michaela and Asher did the deed and after Frank's deadly attack.

Not a whole lot had changed over that month outside of Michaela and Gabriel's breakup. And Gabriel's new haircut.

No matter where you stand on Michaela's love life, the whole situation with Gabriel was handled poorly. When they decided to become official, she made it abundantly clear that she didn't want him to disappear on him, and that's essentially what she did.

Sure, she broke up with him, but she blindsided him and was far from honest, making Gabriel feel pretty abandoned.

The case involving David and Ryan was a case that encompassed a lot of topics including school violence, gun violence, homosexuality, and forgiveness.

It brought about a lot of emotions in everyone, and Gabriel, in particular, seemed to be attempting to assuage his guilt through David.

Asher Stands Up - How To Get Away With Murder Season 3 Episode 7

Gabriel harbors a lot of guilt and sadness about what he did to Vivian's boyfriend, and he seemed to be working overtime to get David to believe that he wasn't a bad person. He was just a man that made a mistake.

And at times it felt like he was speaking to himself.

For Michaela, Asher, and Connor, the trial reminded them of all the deaths and lies they'd been a part of and the fact that they kept a lot of their feelings buried deep, deep inside.

There's always been a cloud hanging over all of them, and they've allowed it just to sit there and fester. But Michaela took a step towards bursting that cloud when she admitted to Gabriel that she cheated on him.

And Connor also got honest when he started to tell Oliver about the night Sam died.

It's pretty insane to think about ALL the murder and death these people have seen and the fact they do not acknowledge any of it.

It's understandable to think they'd want to forget it ever happened, but the people closest to them are just as guilty and involved as they are, so in a way, it should be easier to lay some of that pain on them as they'd be able to understand.

What's the point of fighting so hard to stay alive if we're just gonna die alone?

Frank

For Annalise, she slowly realized throughout the trial, and after a chat with Frank, that while she was busting her ass to stay alive, she denied herself happiness.

Annalise Keating is a busy, complex woman with a lot going on and not a ton of time to date, but she deserves to smile and feel appreciated. And Robert does that for her.

There's not much known about Robert to this point, but from what we can see, he appears genuine and kind. Those are two qualities that anyone would be looking for in a partner.

As cute as their date was, it feels hollow because we know what's looming.

They've got away from the whole 'Annalise is dead' thing, but we all know it's coming. And it hovers over all these happy moments like a bad dream.

A Shocking Confession - How to Get Away with Murder

As we quickly approach the fall finale, it's time to ramp up the suspicions about what happens to Annalise. Or who happens to Annalise.

Re-introducing the Governor again reminds us that's she and Xavier are still out for blood. And with her sights set on Bonnie now, that's going to draw both Annalise and Frank closer to danger.

Frank was again pretty relentless in his pursuit of Bonnie, and for that, you have to admire him.

But he spent a lot of time pursuing Laurel and doting on her, and this sudden realization that he loves Bonnie continues to feel a little bit off.

With the wrongful death suit going forward, it's just a matter of time before it comes out that Miller was innocent and Annalise and Frank knew and it's going to push her further away from them.

The flashforward gave us two more people to check off our not dead list. And neither was particularly surprising.

This late in the game, it doesn't feel like a major character is going to die halfway through the season a la Wes in How To Get Away With Murder Season 3

Oliver's confession was shocking, but I was more interested in why Frank showed up so eager to whisk him away.

Every season it's almost impossible to piece together all the events of the flashforward, but this one feels even more difficult than usual.

All we do know is someone who was in cahoots with the FEDs is very dead.

And that might be all we continue to know for sure headed into the finale.

Everything Else You Need To Know

  • Gabriel is a great lawyer, and he has been a good addition to the show, but over these last few episodes, they better give him more to do than obsessing over Michaela.

  • Tegan was a lot more forgiving of Nate than she had any right to be.
  • Would Frank have really healed that quickly in just a month?
  • The lady who was trying to break Annalise's door down was so obviously a mole. No normal person tries to force there way into an Airbnb like that. You'll have to pay for that kind of damage.
  • The restorative justice trial was the best case of the week they've had this season. And the grandmother's testimony was so well-acted.
