Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 5 Review: The Case of the Wayward Spirit

at .

There's no rest for the dead on Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 5.

Tiffany may be possessing George's body, but neither she nor George are aware that they are not themselves.

When it comes to solving mysterious Nancy is the right person for the job, but is she equipped to handle a supernatural disaster?

Unfortunatly, she doesn't have much of a choice.

George Can't Come to the Phone Right Now - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 5

Most of the time when someone's being possessed, at least one of the involved parties is aware of what's happening.

But George had no idea that Tiffany was controlling her, and Tiffany had no idea that she was no longer Tiffany.

Every time Tiffany looked into the mirror, she saw herself looking back.

Bad news, Tiffany doesn't like you. The good news is Tiffany's dead! So...I'm sorry Nick. The other bad news is that Tiffany's spirit has been hitching a ride in your body. Intermittently.

Ace

But if Tiffany thought everything was fine and dandy, why did she feel the need to write an ominous message in her blood on her husband's mirror?

Have you ever heard of a pen and paper?

George, being George, wanted to cater an event despite being possessed by the ghost a woman whose husband she had an affair with.

George's mother, Victoria, made her second appearance in a row, and I already don't want to see an episode without her.

When it comes to her relationship with George the two have a lot to work on, but when it comes to her personality, she's hilarious.

Not Your Own - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 5

Victoria's nonchalant attitude when it comes to the undead is hard not to laugh over.

The funniest part about it is that Victoria whole-heartedly believes in ghosts, yet she treats their presence as a minor inconvenience.

Turn that down! Your sister's fighting off a ghost!

Victoria

She did get much more serious about things when her daughter's life was at stake, but what mom wouldn't?

George and Nick - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 5

Viewers may have heard a lot about Nick's bond with Tiffany, but it was another thing to see it firsthand.

When Tiffany was close to hurting Nancy and her friends, it only took Nick stepping into the room for her to put down the knife and take a timeout.

If there was ever any doubt about whether their friendship was real or not (which there shouldn't be considering that Tiffany left Nick millions of dollars) that one look was enough to clarify everything.

Possessed - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 5

Nick's promise to keep Tiffany's sister, Laura, safe is something Nick won't take lightly.

Nick: Nancy won't give up on finding out what happened. And neither will I. I don't want to ask you to go, but I can't let George die. I'll stay with you. I'll stay with you 'till the end.
Tiffany: Keep Laura safe.
Nick: I promise you, I will.

It's something that could very easily carry on into future episodes as Nick will undoubtedly feel it's his duty to respect Tiffany's final wish.

I understand Laura's desire to get to the bottom of what happened to her sister, but the way she's manipulating Ace doesn't sit well.

Does she have genuine feelings for him? Most likely. But is she using his feelings for her to get what she wants? Absolutely.

Haunted - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 5

Maybe I'm just overprotective of Ace as he has quickly become my favorite character, but he can do much better than someone who continues to walk all over him.

Bess may be out of the question as a romantic interest, as she and Lisabeth are finally going to go out on a date, but a better platanic relationship simply doesn't exist on the show.

Bess filled me in on what you guys did at the funeral. We're platanchors now, so she tells me things.

Ace

It's not surprising that Bess confides in Ace about so much. Ace is funny, selfless, understanding, and those are only a few of the many things that make me want to gush about him.

How did he go from the worst character to the best throughout one or two episodes?

Tiffany may have finally been put to rest, but her murder remains unsolved.

Stunned - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 5

The flash drive could lead to something more, but it's unlikely that the first document that pops up is going to be the answer to everyone's questions.

Then again, this is television we're talking about.

Nancy also made a new discovery in Dead Lucy's murder case.

Dead Lucy has taken a liking to Nancy and she appears to be chilling at her house most of the time.

Lucy even used her weird power of technological malfunctions to help Nancy understand that Lucy once knew Ryan Hudson.

Too Much - Nancy Drew Season 1 Episode 5

Who doesn't know Ryan Hudson at this point?

This guy has now been a suspect in more than one murder, and there has to be a reason why.

They may have happened years apart, but is it possible that Tiffany and Lucy's deaths were connected?

At this point, it's not safe to count anything out.

It's your turn, Nancy Drew fans! What did you think of the episode?

What are your thoughts on Laura? How about Owen? Do you think Ryan could have had something to do with Tiffany's and Lucy's deaths?

Ace: What else could it be?
Bess: I don't know. Maybe something supernatural?
Nancy: Right, because that's the go-to explanation.
