Jackson: Wait, is that us?
Ben: Oh, that’s us, and don’t worry. It’s normal to get excited about injured people. You change on the way.
Jackson: Now? Oh, can I go down the pole?
Ben: We’ll talk about it.
Owen: It’s a window into the whole body in the palm of your hand.
Ben: See this, this is the new stethoscope.
Owen: I raided the Pac North supply closet before I left. They spent a lot of money there before Catherine bought it. It’s yours.
Ben: Thank you man. You ready for the tour?
Owen: Wait tour? I was hoping for a test drive.
Ben: Yeah, if we get lucky, but you’re not trained yet so no sticking your hands in any bodies.

Carina (in Italian): Without fail, men are idiots.

Maya: OK Todd, you want to have some fun?
Guy: Hell yeah.
Maya: If you can do more pushups than me, you can buy us drinks, but if I can do more pushups than you, you buy us drinks, then leave us the hell alone.
Guy: I like a feisty woman. I’ll do it with one hand just to keep it even.
Carina: Oh, I want to see this.
Maya: Another round of drinks on their tab, please.
Carina: And fries and mozzarella sticks, thank you.
Maya: You were right. Vacation is fun.
Diane: Who taught you eyes forward?
Maya: My father.
Diane: Have you considered the possibility that he was wrong? Maya isn’t it possible, with everything else you’ve accomplished, that you could learn to let yourself rest and sleep and love in this life instead of waiting for death to set you free?
Diane: Do you believe in a punishing god?
Ben: No.
Diane: Sounds like you do.
Ben: Yeah, look, I don’t… I don’t know what I believe. I did Sunday school when I was a kid, and they always taught us that god rewards the righteous and punishes the wicked. But the stuff that I’ve seen since I’ve been working here, I mean, what is everyone wicked? Does everyone deserve to be punished? Did Rigo? Did I?
Andy: I feel electric. I feel awake. I feel awake all the time. This man undoes me. He… I love him. I’m in love with him.
Diane: You know, love all by itself is not electric. By itself, it’s calming. It gets electric when you combine it with stuff that isn’t love -- rule breaking, intrigue, danger.
Andy: So you are judging me?
Diane: I’m not. I’m just trying to understand you. You’re angry with Jack for breaking the code, but you’re breaking it yourself. You coin phrases like “blight on the plight” but you keep doing it, and you don’t feel guilty. You feel electrified. I’m just trying to figure out why.
It was the worse call ‘cuz she was all alone. She was just all alone in that crappy little apartment. And somehow, through the whiskey and the loneliness, she got herself up off the couch and she got herself a tree. And she decorated it with whatever she could find. But she was all alone. She didn’t have any family photos or anyone to call; just that tree. And her tree burned down.

Sullivan: Team, this is Dr. Diane Lewis. She’s a psychologist and a trauma specialist.
Dean: Dr. Lewis, is it legal for our employers to hold us hostage in the gym and force us to talk about our feelings?
Vic: No, we don’t use the f-word here when we’re at work.
Sullivan: Miller, Hughes don’t push it.
Travis: And if it is legal, is it psychologically sound?
Andy: You can't quit. If you fail, we all fail, every one of us. You think if you step down, Dixon's gonna let another woman take your place?
Maya: Now I'm responsible for the future of all female firefighters?
Andy: Don't act like that's a surprise to you. It is what it is. You had a rough start but look at my dad. When he made captain, his team called him so many racial slurs, he should have walked out of these doors on day 1, but he didn't. He stuck it out, he changed people's minds, and he became legendary.
Maya: Everyone hates me.
Andy: Everyone's fighting some kind of battle. This is yours, and for the record, when I make captain, it's not gonna be because my friend gave me her job. I'm too proud for that, and you're too proud for that too.
Travis: You don't want to run toward explosives?
Emmett: No, that's not what I was...
Travis: Kind of a prerequisite of the job: to want to run toward explosives, and now daddy doesn't want to put you in danger, what the hell, probie?
Emmett: I was an art history major, Travis. The fire academy, that was my father’s idea, and I'm pretty sure it's because he wants to run for office on day.
Travis: People will die unnecessarily because you are doing the job you are not cut out for to try and please your daddy. Sleep on that. I know I couldn't.
Dixon: Bishop, this is going on too long. Get my son off the scene, right now.
Maya: Sir, this my team.
Dixon: And that's my kid.
Maya: Who works for me. I understand you think you know what's best for your child, but making him watch from the sidelines is not it.
Jack: Sir, what are you doing?
Dixon: What I should have done already. Your time's up Capt. Bishop.
Travis: Hey, what's going on? We saw SWAT around back going up to the roof.
Maya: Chief Dixon, you are putting my team in danger.
Dixon: No, Capt. Bishop, you did that.
Sullivan: So you’re afraid she’ll leave you if you tell her the truth?
Kyle: She’s all I have left, man.
Sullivan: I get it. I’m scared too. I’m scared of all the stuff no one else can see. You see that woman right there? That’s the woman I love, but I haven’t been honest with her. I have this chronic nerve condition, searing pain, comes out of nowhere and knocks me off my feet. I’ve been self-medicating to deal with the pain. And I’ve kept it from her because I don’t know what’s gonna happen if I come clean.
Andy: Don’t keep it bottled up, Kyle. Tell Ashley the truth.
Kyle: What if she leaves me?
Andy: What is she doesn’t? What is stays by your side, loves and supports you, and helps you? And what if you come out of it stronger together?
