Shaun: Spinal cord injuries interfere with autonomous temperature regulation. If Dr. Lim had had that surgery I proposed, she would be better able to regulate her temperature.
Powell: It's too early for her to make that decision.
Shaun: No. The longer she waits, the greater the risk of irreversible adema.
Powell: Many factors to consider. That's why I advised her not to have the surgery.
Shaun: Excuse me? You are a first year resident. I have much more surgical experience than you.
Powell: And I have more physical disability experience than you.
Park: Your heart's beating too fast and you're in v-fib.
Edna: My heart's been keeping me going for 90 years, so don't be too hard on it.
Morgan: Arthur Abbott?
Asher: Art? Well, he couldn't have gone far.
Man: He's 100 years old today. He's a spry son of a bitch.
Park: We cracked some ribs, which allowed us to do a CT scan... which showed a tumor running from your belly to your lungs.
Edna: Can you remove it?
Park: We can, but at your age I'm not sure your body can take such a big surgery. I recommend you leave it. You'll have a pretty good six months, maybe eight.
Edna: You saved my life once today. You can do it again.
Park: Edna, I'm just not comfortable doing the surgery.
Edna: I want some more butterscotch pudding. And a second opinion.
Man: Dr. Powell isn't your favorite employee, huh?
Shaun: We are not allowed to have favorites, but if we did, she would not be mine.
Shaun: She [Powell] is annoying.
Lea: How is she annoying?
Shaun: She is... contrary.
Lea: Sounds like someone we know.
Shaun: Yes, but I like Morgan.
Glassman: Any problems with memory loss or confusion?
Edna: I am 90. But last week I won all three matches at cribbage.
Shaun: Stop contradicting me! I have more surgical experience than you do.
Powell: Yes, and it's your job to teach me.
Shaun: Then why do you keep acting like you know more than I do?
Powell: Air conditioning is still working at the VA.
Lim: I have physical therapy in 20.
Powell: You do physical therapy when you're injured.
Lim: I am injured.
Powell: No. You were injured. Now I see a woman in front of me who is whole and healthy and I can't wait until you see yourself that way too.
I'm fine with you not liking me, but that doesn't mean you get to disregard my ideas. And I thought you would understand what it's like to be treated like the 'other.' You want to find common ground? That's our common ground.
