Flashback five years ago: Sophie faces Cluemaster as he is incarcerated for thirteen life sentences. He is fixated on how she figured him out.

Today: A guard tries to wake Cluemaster but finds he's escaped only to be attacked from behind and killed.

Batwoman takes out a group of False Faces. She's interrogating one when the Crows show up, led by Agent Tavaroff.

She tells them off and escapes.

Jacob sits at the picnic table near Beth and Kate's favorite waffle stand with a dose of Snakebite.

He doses and relives seeing his girls on the swings.

Alice is being tortured by Black Mask and Circe/Kate. They want to know Batwoman's identity.

Ryan returns home to find Sophie and Mary eating dinner and drinking, celebrating Sophie's 5 year anniversary. The three play some drinking games.

A venomous caterpillar falls out of the tequila bottle and Ryan realizes that it wasn't a gift for Sophie from her Crows when she finds a Cluemaster note for Sophie.

Sophie explains the origins of Cluemaster, aka Arthur Brown. Ryan deciphers the message and Sophie leads the way.

Alice peels off a fingernail to try to escape. She lures Circe/Kate down into the cellar and knocks her out. She steals her phone and calls Jacob. He's in the midst of his Snakebite hallucination and rejects her plea for help. Circe/Kate revives and knocks her out.

Sophie brings Ryan and Mary to her shooting range. They jump the fence and start looking for Cluemaster's victim.

Sophie reveals that she didn't solve Cluemaster's puzzle five years ago. She'd been tipped off by someone who wanted to stay anonymous.

Mary trips a trigger and lights come up on the target field, revealing a woman in a box. Sophie recognizes her as Cluemaster's daughter.

They solve a target puzzle and free Stephanie. Mary administers the antidote. Stephanie shows them a cipher he's written all over her body.

Circe/Kate and Alice have a talk about feelings. Alice figures out who Circe is despite the word that she'd been trampled to death in the Arkham breakout. She questions the injuries she sees on Circe's body. She offers to tell Black Mask what he wants to hear.

Sophie and Ryan inspect the code written on Stephanie's body. She reveals that she was the one who tipped Sophie off years ago.

To help solve the cryptogram, they bring in Luke.

Sophie, Mary, and Ryan look for Cluemaster at the old Quiz Bowl studio. Ryan trips a trigger and the lights come up with a  recording of Cluemaster addressing Sophie. They're trapped on an explosive pressure plate and forced to answer questions to add more time to their countdown clock.

Stephanie and Luke are working on solving the cryptogram when she knocks him out and runs out the door after realizing that Quiz Bowl is a decoy.

The women finish the quiz questions and have 45 minutes to solve their predicament. They try calling Luke but he's still unconscious.

Alice confronts Black Mask with his real identity, giving him another reason to kill her. To stall him, she offers to give Circe back her face.

Sophie confronts Ryan with the knowledge that she's Batwoman. Ryan gives her instructions on how to find the Batcave and get the red and black baton.

Ryan and Mary argue about letting Sophie in on the Batwoman secret.

Stephanie finds her father at her childhood home. She admits to him that she sent him to prison the first time. Before she can call in the cops on him again, he detonates a knock-out gas bomb.

Luke wakes up and finds Stephanie's notes.

Stephanie wakes up and finds herself trapped in a car with her father and some gas filling the space. He plans to kill them both.

Luke arrives and breaks the window.

Mary opens up to Ryan about Jacob using Snakebite.

Sophie arrives with the baton and Ryan uses it to zipline them out.

Luke and Stephanie share a kiss after Cluemaster is carted off by the EMTs.

Mary is trying to contact Jacob when he's rolled into his clinic, overdosing on Snakebite and coding.

Alice tells Circe she knows that she's not Circe because she saw Circe's dead body at the Arkham breakout. When she applies the face, she realizes Circe is Kate.
