Daniel runs into his former therapist in the coffee shop. She's on her way to sign charts in Medical Records. Charles calls after her. He respects that she can't treat him anymore but he wants her to know she helped him a lot. She appreciates that.

Sharon comes up to him and assumes he is seeing Lani in person. He tells her that she developed feelings for him. Sharon asks if he's okay. He is. Sharon left her phone in the car so she has to go but is here if he needs to talk.

Maggie is working. Vanessa asks her about biopsy results. Nothing yet and Maggie isn't sure it's benign since she had cancer before.

Dylan tells Carmen that Darius needs to wait a few weeks before chemo. Also Tyrell has disappeared and Carmen ins worried.

Sharon runs into Randall outside. As she is walking with him, a car zooms down the road and hits a concrete barrier. The driver is brought into the ED and Sharon gives Randall gloves so he can help work on her. Sharon has to keep prompting Randall to participate in the exam. It turns out the patient has been here before. She has long-haul COVID. Sharon asks Randall to see this one through. He seems uncomfortable as he agrees. Archer doesn't like it either and asks Vanessa to report back to him about Randall's performance.

THe COVID long-hauler may have fibromyalgia. Vanessa says this is common among long-haul COVID. Randall says they need a consult but for now she's on pain meds. Gina is sorry she drove.

Vanessa asks Randall how he will treat this patient. He wants to use a drug not prescribed for this use. His own rules require Gina to consent to this and she's sedated right now.

Marcel talks to Scott. Apparently he's doing a transplant on one of his patients. Scott gets called in on a potential overdose. It's Tyrell! Tyrell says get away from me but claims he's not talking to Scott. He needs emergency surgery due to dark urine/potential kidney disease. Stevie asks Scott for history on Tyrell. Scott says Tyrell was a smart, funny kid who spiraled downward after he started hanging out with the wrong crowd.

Will looks like he wants to say something to Stevie. Maggie asks him about Stevie leaving. He doesn't want to talk about it. Will has to make a house call and Trini is not available. Maggie insists on going with him.

Someone tells Stevie that her mom is about to be discharged from the psych ward. She is upset to find that Charles can't tell her anything.

Charles talks to Stevie's mom and asks her what to tell Stevie.

Maggie checks her phone while waiting with Will for the patient. The patient is a financial planner with a lot of money. He is attached to an iron lung and Maggie seems shocked to see him.

Will needs to examine Ellis. He explains to Maggie that Ellis got polio when he was 5 -- a month before the vaccine was available -- and has ben on an iron lung for 63 years. Ellis also needs Maggie to know that he does not want to ever be seen as a polio VICTIM. He feels he has had a good life despite the curveball it threw him. He asks about Will's love life. Anyway, he needs an EKG.

Charles has permission to talk to Stevie. Her mom checked herself into the hospital due to depression. Charles says that the fact that Terri asked for help on her own. Stevie is upset. She doesn't know if she should move to Michigan and angry that Charles didn't tell her her mom was here. Did her mom have to cut her out of her life?

EKG shows heart rate is low and so is BP. Will has to take blood samples from Ellis' neck since that's the only part of his body they have access to.  He will take them to a nearby lab and promises Ellis they will deal with whatever this is.

Maggie apologizes to Will for her crack about Will's love life.

Blake and Marcel must do a liver transplant together. It's for Scott's patient, a young girl.

Marcel tries to talk to Blake about what happened with Avery. Blake no longer wants to get involved with a surgeon on her team now that Marcel has feelings for her.

Gina is having trouble breathing and needs a chest x-ray. She has a heart problem. Randall wants to do a procedure but needs Gina's permission and she's fallen unconscious again.

The transplant begins.

Ellis asks Maggie what she's keeping from Will. She tells him about the biopsy. ELlis understands she doesn't want a pity party. He doesn't like that either. She says she may need chemo, radiation, maybe to quit her job. Ellis offers to look at her financials so she can see if she can retire. He wants to look right away.

Archer talks to Tyrell. Stevie says he is lucky Archer could operate so quickly. Tyrell wants to know if Carmen knows. He doesn't want her to come see him like this. He wants to know if he can go home. Archer doesn't recommend it but Tyrell insists.

Charles has made living arrangements for Terri. He wonders why she checked into Stevie's hospital. She had to know Stevie would find out. Terri thought eventually she'd want to see Stevie but the better she got, the less she wanted to see her. She loves Stevie but she can be negative.

Archer feels a need to gloat about how Randall's policies have hurt his patient. Gina's heart condition worsens, which makes it an emergency so Archer can operate without consent.

Stevie comes to see Charles. She asks if Terri was bipolar her whole life. Charles explains how bipolar manifests and how drinking and using drugs might have been due to the illness. Stevie feels bad about blaming her mother for being an addict. She feels bad about expecting Terri to fail. Charles thinks Stevie should give herself credit for realizing she needs to see her mother in a new way.

Ellis tells Maggie that if she does have to stop working she needs a risk-adverse portfolio. His recommendations get interrupted by Maggie's doctor calling.  She finds out the biopsy is negative. Ellis wonders why she isn't happy. Maggie says she had cancer before and is always worried about the cancer coming back. Ellis asks to give her advice. He says everyone is on a razor's edge but only some people realize it, and they are the ones who know to cherish every moment.

Gina is okay now. She will be going to rheumatology next. Randall tells Sharon he thinks some of his directives are too stringent and he will adjust them. Archer tells Sharon well played. Sharon neither confirms nor denies.

Vanessa stands up for Randall to Doris. She gets a text from Maggie. Also she invites Randall to a concert tonight, if it's appropriate. He accepts.

Maggie is impressed with Ellis' plans but Ellis loses consciousness. Will comes running. Ellis' thyroid is low. He gives him a shot in the hopes it'll help.

Tyrell has to sign discharge forms. It appears he can't read. Stevie suggests he order some food.  She has to show him where the roast beef is on the hospital menu too.  She tells Dylan and he's surprised. Dylan says Tyrell dropped out of high school and would mix up his left and right and words. Don't discharge him yet.

Dylan tells Tyrell he needs to do a neuro exam. Tyrell wants Stevie but Scott says Stevie had an emergency. Tyrell cannot do a test where he has to sa words in order. He also can't remember directions to do things in a certain order.

No circulation in the liver. There's a clot. The balloon doesn't inflate on the catheter but the patient is so young that a bigger one might cause an artery to rupture. Marcel says let me try with the bigger catheter. He finds the clot despite Blake's nerves and the baby is fine,."

Ellis is better now. Will will send over an endocrinologist. Ellis tells Maggie that she will be okay.  She wants to give him a kiss. Will sees. maggie tells Will she had a biopsy but it's benign. Will is glad to hear that. He admits he wishes Stevie was staying but like Ellis says, life can throw you a curveball.

Scott tells Tyrell he thinks Tyrell has dyslexia. Tyrell doesn't believe it and denies that he can't read. Carmen tells him it doesn't mean he's not smart. Scott tells him that Tyrell should have been diagnosed as a kid but their school didn't have funding for that. Scott says it's n ot too late to change. There's plenty that can be done.

Blake tells Marcel that was great work. She also says it's better this way (that they have no relationship). Marcel doesn't agree.

Charles finds Lani in a waiting area. He tells her a colleague had a great breakthrough today where they saw someone in their life in a completely different light. He thinks he missed her, not the work they were doing.

Terri is excited to show Stevie her new space. She offers her tea. Stevie asks if Terri is okay with her leaving. Terri says she'll be fine.
