Davis brings Zeke to the station to turn himself in, but Jenny tells him that Zeke is free. This prompts Monet to tell Carrie to stay away from Zeke forever.

Kamaal and Whitman want to look more into the drug connections from Jabari’s book and ask Carrie to read it. When she does, she deduces the book is about Tariq.

Mecca tells Monet that he’s set up trust funds for her kids, including Zeke, and her so she can get out of the life.

Monet tells Tariq to find out who Cane’s connect while telling Cane to find Tariq’s weakness so she can control him.

Carrie asks Lauren to wear a wire and explains that she will be protecting Tariq by getting more information about Brayden on it. After getting Cane on tape while at Tariq’s dorm, Kamaal and Whitman look into Cane.

Warren agrees to represent Tariq at Yas’s custody hearing while Tariq looks to secure an apartment.

Tariq asks Diana to get him product that he can sell to make money for the lawyer fees and apartment. Cane gets the product to Brayden, and Tariq watches the exchange so he can follow Cane to Mecca’s.

As he is recording, Nuff grabs him while Cane and Mecca’s chef look on from the penthouse. Cane says he doesn’t know Tariq, and Tariq is let go. Later, Mecca confronts Cane and Nuff about the encounter and has Nuff killed.

Lauren gets Tariq on the live wire, saying that Jabari’s book wasn’t about Brayden, which gives the cops enough to open Tariq’s dorm room.

Cane confronts Monet over pitting her and Tariq against each other, and Monet then stops Tariq on his way to his hearing and threatens him. Tariq gets out of it by telling Monet about her children lying to her about different things.

Tariq makes it to the hearing and wins temporary custody of Yas. However, he is arrested after the cops find Ramirez’s badge in his drawer when he gets back to campus. And in prison, Warren gives him a letter from Ghost.

Monet tells Mecca that she wants a fresh start with him. But when she arrives home, she sees that Lorenzo is there.
