Recap

Eight months ago at 8 Manderley Road

People are arguing. Dad is trying to get into a bedroom, and the windows are slowly shutting and locking on their own. The lights go out. Everyone is screaming. A young man runs toward the window, bloodied, before falling away. The house explodes. It was for sale by Roman Real Estate.

Present Day at 12 Manderley Road.

A couple is going up to bed when dad hears a little boy talking to himself. He says he's talking to Rory, his stuffed animal. But he's really talking to a little braided girl. She's upset that they're moving, and although the little guy is laughing, she's scary AF.

At the office, Susan gags on the coffee.

Luke is finally orientating Susan as she should have been orientated.

They're going to The Quincys' House. Their potential buyers are running from the house in the middle of showings.

The little boy's name is Jamie. He comes out of his room with his hamster, Josh. Luke senses something is wrong.

The little girl wonders what they want. If Jamie moves, she'll be all alone again. If he moves, she'll climb out the window and up to the roof and will jump, breaking all her bones and getting all bloody, and it will be all his fault.

Susan is too excited at the Roman Real Estate meeting that Zooey, Father Phil (who I was previously calling Father Orley), and August are agitated and annoyed.

A Harvey is an imaginary friend. Luke gives her a quick lesson on their lingo before she reveals she feels hated by the others. He assures her that they need her.

Susan is in Jamie's room when she hears someone crying in the closet. There is nobody inside, but the little girl is on the bed. She says she can't go home without Betsy. She wants Susan to get her.

August calls as the girl disappears, and Susan is freaked out.

After talking with August, she calls Luke, and he directs her to Father Phil. Susan wants to finish the unfinished business so they can, well, finish it.

Luke is taking selfies when Megan walks up. He reveals that houses act differently when your back is turned. Brock walks out in his skivvies and does the eye-pointing thing to indicate that he's watching Luke.

Susan goes into the attic while Father Phil tells Luke that he cannot find any little girl tether to the house. He wonders if Susan freaked. No, but she's freaking now as a giant crow attacks her in the attic. When she removes her arms, August is standing above her.

August didn't see the raven.

Back at the office, Susan is about to get into trouble with Luke for going into the attic. She's just seeing for the first time what happened in the house at 8 Manderley.

Since Luke believed that the thing wouldn't hurt them, he feels responsible for what happened to them. He thinks that until Susan knows a little more about them, she should do things their way.

At 12 Manderley, Jamie is on the roof saying that a little girl is going to jump. She taunts him and raises herself off of the roof, hovering while he screams.

Luke wants the family to go to a motel room, but Mrs. Quincy says no go. Just do your job, Roman Agency!

Luke chats with Jamie. He gets the girl's name. Jamie isn't supposed to talk about her because then they can't be friends anymore.

Jamie doesn't have many friends. Luke says he didn't have many at his age either, and he still doesn't, but the ones he does have are really, really good.

Cindy wants to punish Jamie for telling, but she likes him. So she'll punish someone else; otherwise, he won't learn. Since Jamie's parents are outside mowing the lawn and playing with shears, it's looking pretty awful. She laughs at him and crushes Josh to death.

Luke told Susan not to show the house, but she's doing it anyway. The visitors hear the little girl crying and screaming, and Susan plays it off. The couple takes off like bandits.

Luke needs a word. If she doesn't want to follow his rules, then maybe she should work somewhere else, where the barriers to a sale don't have so many sharp teeth.

Cindy decides that Luke is different from the others. He calls bullshit, and she flashes her scary face. Susan interrupts, and the demon disappears.

Susan complains to her mom about her new job. She said Luke really disappointed her today. Mom sides with the others. She wants Susan to open her heart and let the others see who she really is.

August is listening to the Quincy House. He recorded an engagement when Luke was talking to the girl. They banter about what it might be. A doughboy? Nope. More powerful. An LRG? God help them. More lingo. Whatever Luke suggests will only work against the beast in its true form during one of those spikes.

August says to use the beast's big ego to inflict pain at the right moment, but keep in mind that they only exist to inflict pain and sorrow, and it sees Luke coming.

Susan gets the gang coffee. Zooey is surprised she got it right. Susan comes up with a compromise. Father Phil is happy, too.

The musical loving contractor is Father Phil's husband.

Luke needs another minute with Susan. They come to an understanding, too. The Quincys fired them. An LRG is little red's grandma.

When they get to the house, Luke doesn't have time to argue, so Susan pleads their case to the Quincys. They appear to listen.

Luke and Jamie play chess while Luke sets up the room. Then Luke calls Cindy. He calls her out, and she responds.

They battle it out, Luke with words and a remote control, and she's gone.

Susan has multiple bids on the Quincy place. He's pleaded that she helped, kept him out of jail, and sold the house.

If their clients don't believe in the very thing they're hired to eradicate, Susan has to ensure they believe in the Roman Agency.

Everyone is having a nice evening in, and Luke is at Funland playing miniature golf with his dad. His dad saw Susan at the batting cages, and he was impressed. Dad hopes that they're simpatico, but Luke assures him that's not how it is. But dad says that Luke always did poorly with women. That makes Luke scoff.

While he bends over for a putt, dad disappears. The game is over.

Luke closes down the Funland mini-golf course. Something tells me he's got a lot more invested in that place than we know.

SurrealEstate Season 1 Episode 2 Quotes

Susan: August! I saw her. A, a little girl.
August: If one works at Yellowstone National Park, one should not be surprised to encounter a bear every once in a while.

Luke: What were you doing in the attic.
Susan: The little girl said she left her doll up there.
Zooey: Wait. And you believed her?
Susan: She's dead, right? Why would she lie?
