Fox Cheat Sheet: What Will Be Renewed?

at .  Updated at .

We're now into 2018 and the fate of some of Fox's series is becoming clearer.

Some of the newer series have emerged as rare success stories, but some of them have failed to garner much traction.

Below, we've rounded up Fox's roster of shows as well as what we think the network will do with them.

1. Empire - Certain Renewal

Empire - Certain Renewal
Empire has been trending downward since Season 2. Season 4 is off 30 percent vs. last season. It is averaging 5.8 million viewers and a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49. The show gets a decent boost of almost 60 percent with 7 days of DVR factored in, but the continued erosion has to be concerning for Fox. It still has a long way left to fall before being in any danger.

2. The Simpsons - Renewed

The Simpsons - Renewed
The Simpsons has benefited from a football lead-in multiple times this season. It is currently averaging 4.6 million viewers and a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49. It has already been renewed!

3. 9-1-1 Renewed

9-1-1 Renewed
9-1-1 has been the surprise hit of the year. It is averaging 6.3 million viewers and a 1.7 rating. It gets a sizeable bump on the DVR front, and Fox has already renewed it.

4. Star - Certain Renewal

Star - Certain Renewal
Fox gifted Star with a post-Empire slot this season and the show is currently up in the ratings. It is averaging 4.2 million viewers and a 1.4 rating. The show gets a modest boost on the DVR front, but its live ratings will keep it around.

5. The Orville - Renewed

The Orville - Renewed
Fox took a risk with this new Seth McFarlane series and it paid off. Season 1 is averaging 4.5 million viewers and a 1.3 rating. The show more than doubles when DVR ratings are factored in. It's such a hit that it has already snagged a renewal!

6. Bob's Burgers - Certain Renewal

Bob's Burgers - Certain Renewal
Bob's Burgers is up double digits this season. It is averaging 3.1 million viewers and a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49. With a feature length move in the works, the series will stick around.

7. Family Guy - Certain Renewal

Family Guy - Certain Renewal
This comedy series is down marginally and is currently averaging 2.9 million viewers and a 1.3 rating. It builds 50 percent with a week of DVR factored in. It's a reliable performer and will be back.

8. Ghosted - Likely Renewal

Ghosted - Likely Renewal
Ghosted is averaging 2.9 million viewers and a 1.2 rating. It gets a modest boost on the DVR, and has remained relatively stable throughout its run.

9. The X-Files - Likely Cancellation

The X-Files - Likely Cancellation
The X-Files is down 65 percent vs the 2016 event series. It is averaging 4.2 million viewers and a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49. It is getting very little help in delayed viewing and series lead, Gillian Anderson has quit.

10. The Gifted - Renewed

The Gifted - Renewed
The Gifted is averaging 3.3 million viewers and a 1.0 rating. It surges 90 percent with a week of DVR factored in. While the show has dipped in recent airings, it is still one of the better performing shows on the network. Update: Fox has renewed the show!

11. Lethal Weapon - Likely Renewal

Lethal Weapon - Likely Renewal
Lethal Weapon is down over 35 percent since moving to a new night. Season 2 is currently averaging 4.3 million viewers and a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49. The show gets a 70 percent boost in DVR ratings, and has been building of late.

12. The Resident - Could Go Either Way

The Resident - Could Go Either Way
The Resident is averaging 6.5 million viewers and a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 through three episodes. It is inflated by its high-flying premiere following the NFC Championship. The opener failed to get much traction on the DVR. It's too soon to rule it dead or alive, so it's on the bubble for now.

13. LA to Vegas - Could Go Either Way

LA to Vegas - Could Go Either Way
This new comedy series is averaging 2.9 million viewers and a 0.9 rating. It's only aired a handful of episodes, so we will need more data before a decision is made.

14. Lucifer - Likely Renewal

Lucifer - Likely Renewal
Lucifer is down 10 percent to 3.4 million viewers and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49. The show does not get as big a boost from DVR as it once did, but it is still a reliable performer and has not dropped much year-to-year. It will be back.

15. Gotham - Could Go Either Way

Gotham - Could Go Either Way
Gotham is down almost 20 percent to 2.8 million viewers and a 0.9 rating. It still gets a boost on the DVR with most recent figures showing gains of 80 percent within a week. It's on the bubble.

16. The Last Man on Earth - Could Go Either Way

The Last Man on Earth - Could Go Either Way
The Last Man on Earth is averaging 2.2 million viewers and a 0.9 rating. It sees gains of 50 percent on the DVR front and is owned by Fox. It could go either way.

17. The Mick - Could Go Either Way

The Mick - Could Go Either Way
The Mick is down 30 percent to 2.2 million viewers and a 0.8 rating in Season 2. The show adds 50 percent when DVR is factored in and is owned by Fox. It did recently get some more episodes added to its order, but the show could be renewed or canceled at this stage.

18. Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Likely Cancellation

Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Likely Cancellation
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is now Fox's lowest-rated comedy series. It is down almost 25 percent to average 1.7 million viewers and a 0.7 rating. Fox does not own the show, so there's a good chance the low ratings will signal its demise.

19. The Exorcist - Certain Cancellation

The Exorcist - Certain Cancellation
The Exorcist was given a reprieve last year, and the same will not be happening this season. It averaged 1.3 million viewers and a 0.4 rating for its second season. It gets a 75 percent boost on the DVR, but given that the numbers are so low, the overall ratings are still woeful with the DVR results factored in. It will not be back.

FOX Quotes

Very disappointed. Personally, I really don’t want to come back. I’d rather face the killer than backstabbers. At least I know what the motives are behind the killer.
