Killjoys Season 1: Killer Twists, Best Villain, Worst Hook Up and More!

at .  Updated at .

8. Killer Plot Twist

Not only was Killjoys Season 1 Episode 5 "A Glitch in the System" probably the scariest installment of the season, but the nanites were a brilliant torture device. Tearing a person apart and rebuilding them after they've answered correctly was an insane twist. Of course, this episode shed some light on D'avin's PTSD when he was forced to confess he'd killed his entire squad. The mystery of Red 17 was introduced as well and after the finale we're left wondering if that space cruiser is where Level 6 experiments took place. Does Khlyen have nanites in his system? Remember he survived Dutch's stabbing?

9. Sensational Supporting Cast

Sure our Killjoys are the leads of the show and the adventures revolve around them. However, how many series out there have such a diverse cast of supporting characters you fall in love with as well? Pree, Bellus, Fancy Lee, Pawter, Alvis, Delle Seyah were all so fascinating and relevant to the larger story. Because they were introduced sporadically, we didn't realize we'd be checking in with them from time to time. Once the finale came, all the major players resurfaced and most survived to fight another day. Quick social media note... the entire cast was so engaged on Twitter by the finale they felt like old friends.

10. Villain We Loved to Hate

Khlyen turned out to be a surprisingly complex villain, if you can even call him that. Dutch's surrogate father clearly adores her and as she told Johnny has always protected her. Of course, he also made her a stone-cold killer and badass warrior. Though we learned he had been training her for Level 6 since she was a girl, his true motivations remain unclear. Did Khlyen know her father? Is it possible he is her father? Though many fans were hoping he'd be killed off in the finale, I'm thrilled he wasn't because we've only skimmed the surface of his story. He's the bad guy we love to hate and Rob Stewart plays him to perfection!

11. Favorite Guest Star

Okay this is an easy one... Why the queen of sci-fi herself, Amanda Tapping of course. Dr. Jaeger had been mentioned early on in connection with D'avin's PTSD. Meeting this mysterious character on Killjoys Season 1 Episode 7 "Kiss Kiss, Bye Bye" was going to be monumental not only for the Killjoys, but for the audience as well. Having Amanda take on this role elevated the entire series, and turned the team on its head when she triggered D'avin to kill them. Brilliant casting move guys!

12. Season 1 MVP

The Killjoys Season 1 MVP award goes to Johnny Jaqobis (Aaron Ashmore). While we did not get as much of John's backstory as say Dutch or D'avin, he's definitely the glue that keeps the team together as Aaron mentioned in our Fan Q&A. John's interactions with Pree, Alvis, Fancy Lee and Pawter really helped us understand and care for those characters. If Dutch is the most experienced and D'avin's the muscle, Johnny is the team's heart. The character also had some of the funniest lines. Remember the chafing remark or when he called Khlyen the "evil ass clown"? Yeah, Johnny's great and hopefully we learn more about him via flashbacks next season.

13. Biggest WTF? Moment

I'm sure I wasn't the only Killjoys fan hoping we would visit Arkyn in the finale. I probably wasn't the only one blown away either when D'avin stepped outside to see Qresh, Leith and Westerley in the night sky. Then the camera pulled out to reveal he was on base #17 (yep Red 17) and the crater was glowing green much like the plasma Johnny swiped from the RAC. Everything just came together so perfectly. Seeing Fancy Lee lying there being experimented on was a shocker as well. Will Dutch keep her word and find D'avin? Let's hope she and Johnny get to him in time.

14. Hopes for Killjoys Season 2

Let me start by saying, I hope there is a Killjoys Season 2. Not only were we left with a massive cliffhanger, but you got a real sense this was only the beginning of the Killjoys story. As I mentioned at the top, this show was a pleasant surprise. I've got my fingers crossed that Space/Syfy allow us to go for another run with the gang. What would I love to see next season? The moment Dutch and Johnny met as he was attempting to steal Lucy. Flashbacks to D'avin and John's childhood, possibly even the backstories of Pree, Bellus and Fancy Lee. The options are endless because there's such a wealth of characters and situations to explore.

We sci-fi fans are a jaded bunch. I mean, how many times can our favorite shows be cancelled before we give up tuning in. However, if we're not tuning in we're also contributing to the problem. If you fall for a show, support it unabashedly and share it with the world as I have with Killjoys. Let your geek flag fly!

Killjoys Quotes

Dutch: Got any low level warrants I can knock out fast? Level 2s or 3s?
Bellus: Sure repos, transpos but shouldn't you concentrate on finishing your active warrant?
Dutch: What active warrant?
Bellus: The Level 5 warrant you signed on for twelve hours ago; one Kobee Andras.
Dutch: Bellus, Level 5s are kill work. I don't do those.

Dutch: Six years of working together, he's never wanted some 'me' time... Nah something's up.
Pree: Dutch, you work together, live together, do everything but sleep together and you're worried that he wants a little time apart. Bitch, how charming do you think you are?
Dutch: I know when Johnny's lying, Pree.
