Dead To Me Trailer: Misery Just Found Company

Dead to Me, starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini is poised to be another hit for Netflix.

The streamer unveiled the first official trailer for the series, and we have a lot of thoughts.

Dead to Me follows two women, Jen (Applegate) and Judy (Cardellini), who become friends after meeting at a grief support group.

Jen is wary of Judy at first but agrees to let her live in her guesthouse, because, well, that's what you do for people you don't know.

The plot thickens when it emerges that Jen's new friend is not who she seems, and is harboring some dark secrets.

Jen is blinded by her quest to find the hit and run driver who killed her husband, and Judy just so happens to understand what Jen is going through.

There's a lot to unpack from the trailer, but we'll leave some surprises for you!

It's unclear whether the series is a comedy or a drama, or a mix of both, but we do know that the show will unspool its entire first season on Friday, May 3rd.

James Marsden, Ed Asner, and Brandon Scott are the supporting players on the series, while

Jessica Elbaum, Christie Smith, Applegate, Adam McKay, and Will Ferrell serve as executive producers.

Here's the official synopsis:

Jen (Christina Applegate) is a sardonic widow determined to solve her husband’s recent hit-and-run murder. Judy (Linda Cardellini) is an optimistic free spirit who’s recently suffered her own tragic loss.

When the two women meet at a support group, they become unlikely friends despite their polar-opposite personalities.

But as they bond over bottles of wine, Entenmann’s cookies and a shared affinity for The Facts of Life, Judy desperately tries to shield Jen from a shocking secret that could destroy her life as she knows it.

Dead to Me, created by Liz Feldman (2 Broke Girls, One Big Happy), is an addictive dark comedy that dives into the painfully unfiltered, weirdly funny waters of grief, loss and forgiveness.

From creator and executive producer Liz Feldman, Dead to Me stars Christina Applegate (Jen), Linda Cardellini (Judy), James Marsden (Steve), Ed Asner (Abe) and Brandon Scott (Nick).

Jessica Elbaum (Gloria Sanchez Prods.), Christie Smith and Christina Applegate also serve as executive producers, in addition to Adam McKay and Will Ferrell for Gloria Sanchez Productions.

Dead to Me is produced by CBS Television Studios for Netflix.

Netflix Quotes

Jack: Alyssa is not Salvador!
Vera: She knows all our strengths and all our weaknesses. That makes her exceedingly dangerous.
Jack: Why do you hate her so much?
[Vera stares at him]
Vera: Mr. Morton, you’re relieved from temple duties until further notice.
Jack: You’re benching me?!
Vera: Your infatuation has become a liability.
[Vera walks away]
Jack: Yeah, well, you’re welcome for saving your life!
Vera: I said, “Thank you.”

I do not exist. I exist only if the motherland exists.
