Grey's Anatomy Round Table: "Can't Fight Biology"

at . Comments

Welcome to TV Fanatic's Grey's Anatomy Round Table, in which our panelists discuss the burning questions from the most recent episode of the medical drama.

The topics for our "Can't Fight Biology" Round Table Q&A and TV Fanatic's take ...

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode?

L.J. Gibbs: Arizona explaining how Mark stares at boobs. Hilarious.

M.L. House: Courtesy of Cristina's patient: "Because I love what I do more than anything. You don't find something you love that much and let it go. You hold onto it and throw yourself in deeper." Eerie how well this echoed Cristina's situation, wasn't it?

Mrs. Northman: Derek: "Here's what we're gonna do. No more doctors, no more labs. You and I we have a lot of sex. Maybe we make a baby, maybe we do not. Maybe you get Alzheimer's, maybe you do not. Just screw the odds, screw science. Let's just live. Whatever happens. Happens. Me and you. Okay?" Everything McDreamy says is so ... well, dreamy!

I'm so happy that they've been able to maintain a pretty stable relationship and I really think Derek is Meredith's anchor in that respect.

RT, Greys

2. Will April and Lexie become the best of friends?

L.J. Gibbs: Definitely. Beneath the inappropriate crushes, jealousy and neuroses, these two are like peas in a pod. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I love both and am totally pulling for this bromance. Or whatever the female equivalent of a bromance might be.

M.L. House: No. A man will come between the pair. They're too boy crazy to put each other first.

Mrs. Northman: Doubtful. I do see April forming a trio with Cristina and Meredith though and I'm sure that Lexie will be thrilled to be the odd man out.

3. How long do you think it will take Cristina to get back to her old OR loving self?

L.J. Gibbs: It's not going to be a quick process, but the Grey's Anatomy spoilers I've read suggest that October 28 is a big episode as far as the doctors moving past the shooting.

M.L. House: She's been through a lot. I once had to write a review of The Vampire Diaries with a gun to my head and I still tremble each time I sit at a computer late Thursday night. Hang in there, C, give it a few more weeks.

Mrs. Northman: Since we are still so early in the season, I'd give it at least 2-3 more episodes. Like I've said before, something big needs to happen to get her to man up again.

Der on Mer

LOTS OF SEX: Baby or no baby, MerDer love will be in full effect.

4. Do you think there will ever be a McBaby?

L.J. Gibbs: Either Shonda, an adoptive mother herself, is trying to show us that you don't need biological children to be happy, or she's setting us up to think there won't be a McBaby, only to have Mer miraculously conceive in the season finale (fingers crossed)!

M.L. House: Probably not. But Derek and Meredith can just draw a picture of one on a Post-It and refer to it as their child. Same thing, right?

Mrs. Northman: YES! A girl can dream, can't she? I really hope so. Hopefully, Meredith won't die trying.

5. Were you surprised that Cristina bought a house for herself and Owen?

L.J. Gibbs: To quote Young Jeezy and Rihanna, go hard or go home!! Cristina wasn't about to timidly dip her feet in when she could get pre-approved for a Washington mortgage loan on the spot and make it happen. With mortgage rates at record lows, and the housing market shifting decidedly in favor of buyers, this was a pool worth jumping into. Way to take the plunge, Yang.

M.L. House: No. See my answer to the first question. It's all about throwing yourself in deeper. Go all out, or don't go at all!

Mrs. Northman: Heck yeah! Cristina seemed so uninterested in house hunting in the beginning. I am very excited to see how they fix up the place and for the drunken parties!

What do you think? Weigh in with your own answers/comments!

Female equivalent of a bromance.... homance :p

The post it jokes get annoying to the point that is not funny. Get over it.

Does anyone else really miss George? I still enjoy this show alot but I still miss teh fab 5.....Izzie did get annoying but George wwho was always my fav is definately still missed by me....

ml house, that post-it comment was so hilarious. I thought I was the only person who felt like that. U can not get married by a post-it.

@BJ VanDewater - Teddy's reaction wasn't really over the top in context. She's not mad that he's flirting with her, she's mad that he's using it as a way into surgeries instead of using the brains she knows he has. I very much doubt any woman would honestly object to being flirted with by Jackson, but as she said "batting your eyelashes at me when I'm inside a chest cavity?". I really like the fact that Teddy seems to focus so much on teaching and working with her residents, as some of the other residents seem to lose that focus at times.

@JT. it moight be a joke, one they've been obssessing about ever since it happened. seriously, does it affect your life? who cares if two fictional characters did or did not really get married. let them have their post it defacto marriage

Am I the only one who feels Terry's reaction to flirting was over the top? After at the woman interns/residents flirting with male attendings, how does this even make any sense??

@katiej: obviously, it's just a joke. And you gotta admit, M.L House has some interesting answers at times :)

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode? I liked the quote from Cristina's patient after he learnt his worms died, it was the kind of pep talk Cristina needed, she loves Cardiothoracic surgery, that's all she's wanted to do, and to have this man tell her so simply that you don't give up on what you love, was like watching a light being turned on. 2. Will April and Lexie become the best of friends? I think so, they look good together on screen and both being brunettes and as the season progress' April is less annoying then she was last season, I think it has a lot to do with the fact, she is over her crush with Derek and she has bonded with Meredith on a real personal level, and now that April and Lexie are living at Meredith's place it won't take long for them to become friends, it'll take a bit longer to class them as best friends, but I'm sure it won't take long. 3. How long do you think it will take Cristina to get back to her old OR loving self? As Cristina said she is taking baby steps, but this episode showed she is one step closer, you could see, she wanted to save the patients worms, then having to draw Meredith's blood, all these baby steps. She may need someone she loves to need her to operate on them like she did to Derek, she needs that pressure, that over whelming need to operate to save a life, she's still scared at the moment. 4. Do you think there will ever be a McBaby? I hope so, but with a hostile uterus, I'm not too sure, maybe they could use Lexie as a surrogate, maybe they can adopt, but for them to adopt they would have to get married legally and that's not going to happen, they'll stay defacto's common husband and wife, a defacto couple these days has just as many rights as a legal married couple. Only good thing is they don't have to file for divorce if they separate. 5. Were you surprised that Cristina bought a house for herself and Owen? Not really, that's Cristina. And I love the fact that it's an old fire house with pole and everything. I hope they keep the pole, I want someone to run up the stairs and just come down the pole just for the fun of it, that would be great to see maybe after they renovate the place and have a house warming party, see some of the residents be big kids and have them play on the pole or use it as jokes, example "Yang do you do a pole dance for Owen", that kind of thing would be funny, especially if they leave the pole in the bedroom.

M.L House- shut up about the postit. we get it, you hate it. nobody cares

Grey's Anatomy Season 7 Episode 4 Quotes

(to Meredith) You know this isn't normal.

Biology determines much of the way we live. From the moment we're born we know how to breathe and eat. As we grow older new instincts kick in. We become territorial. We learn to compete. We seek shelter. Most important of all, we reproduce. Sometimes biology can turn on us though. Yeah, biology sucks sometimes.
