Finally! Someone mentions that the actress might be playing a different role, as a semi introduction for the fans. Somewhat akin to Martha Jones in Season 2 (Doomsday) and Amy Pond in Season 4 (Fires of Pompei) and to a lesser extent Gwen -from Torchwood- in Season 1 (The Unquiet Dead)
Also, while repetitive -and that is Moffat's theme {Timey-Wimey Solutions(which I love every time) , Enemies that are the most powerful when you can't see them (Silence, Angles, Vashta Nerada), Meeting out of order(Sally Sparrow, River Song, maybe Clara)}-, it could be that we witnessed Clara's end but not her entire life. She told him to remember her. Perhaps he will pick her up before she crash lands.
As far as why she would not remember him, there is the fact that her memories of him may have been wiped during the transformation.

Woah. So many bombshells, so little time. So this is what great television looks like. I never thought I'd love this new companion, but what an episode for a coming out party. Encore.

Excellent, incisive review of a very fine episode. This was truly cinematic, intelligent and poignant, and I agree that Matt Smith goes from strength to strength.
