Doctor Who wraps up Season 7 with an aptly titled finale this week: The Name of the Doctor.
Doctor Who Season 7 was the final season for The Doctor before he regenerated out of the body as portrayed by Matt Smith and into that of Peter Capaldi. During Doctor Who Season 7 The Doctor had companions Amy Pond and her boyfriend/husband Rory as well as Clara Oswald, who was introduced inside of a Dalek. Clara, the Impossible Girl, became The Doctor's companion when Amy and Rory decided to retire by staying behind in another time to have a full and complete life together.
The Doctor and Clara had a unique relationship and it was revealed that Clara has been with The Doctors in some way since the very beginning. Her adventure as a companion to The Doctor also helped wheel in the story of The Doctor's background and there were two highly unique specials during Doctor Who Season 7 including The Day of the Doctor and The Time of the Doctor which included The Doctor coming to terms with his history in Gallifrey and his destruction of its people as well as his ability -- with the help of all 12 Doctors including the one yet to come -- to go back and change his own history.
At the end of Doctor Who Season 7 Matt Smith took leave of the role and regenerated into Peter Capaldi as The Doctor.
