Naomi (guest star Amanda Tapping) tells Castiel that Crowley is holding an angel captive and Castiel must rescue him before Crowley finds out their secrets. Castiel turns to Dean for help.

Meanwhile, Sam meets with Amelia who asks him to make a choice: stay with her or leave and never contact her again.

S8 awesome by true fans?? Joan, how can you think this? I am a true fan, and S8 isn't even Superntural, but a soapie, with teenage nonsense. Nothing has happened yet, except for Cas and Dean becoming closer (which is good). Sam is flat, Kevin and mom annoying, and Amelia is boring. Purgatory was a let down, and Benny's character could have been introduced by another means. Samandriel is lovely, and Crowley is fantastic, but where is the thrill and excitement from the earlier seasons? Bring back hunters, ghosts, demons. Team Free Will is gone, Bobby unfortunately gone, and Sam is fixing sinks and changing lightbulbs.

Joan, I don't know what you're talking about, but I assume you're from Tumblr. I don't see any hate here but genuine concern and genuine grievances. I think, despite what many say here, fans are not happy with this season. How could ANYONE be interested in Amelia over Purgatory? TRUE fans want Supernatural to improve. It's not doing a kindness to praise a show that's going downhill. And I agree with the other poster - you can be both a brother fan and like Cas. What's wrong with that? I'm sick of "fans" crappy Wincest/Destiel nonsense. It's ruining this show and is not canon. Supernatural needs united loyal Winchester brothers, with Cas as a helpful side kick. NO MORE SOAP. Also, at this stage, it's impossible to tell where Carver is going with this season. Move the story along, for heaven's sake. Naomi should be playing a bigger part by now. I'm more interested in her than Amelia, that's for sure. I also agree that it's only Arrow responsible for the "improved" ratings. Supernatural has turned into a soap opera, both Winchesters out of character, and a disjointed and uninteresting mytharc. Hell,I don't even like Crowley any more! Supernatural is just... well, it's boring. And that's Carver's fault.

Well, in my opinion it's not forced or contrived. They've been burying their feelings and not talking about their problems properly for well over a season. I want to see them actually work through their issues, and in order to do that the issues have to bubble to the surface. Dean's trust issues, Sam's longing for independence and a life outside hunting - these are the same issues we've dealt with in the past that are being magnified this season. Hopefully, with the intent of addressing them directly. Christ, just because they're angry doesn't mean their bond is broken. They're going to make up. Also, I want to say seasons 4 and 5 are my absolute favorite and are likely to always be my favorite, but I also enjoy season 8.

I might add that I am sick of the Wincest v. Destiel crap. Stop it, both sides. You're as bad as each other. Supernatural is dire and its faults need highlighting, but your crap isn't helping. Just because you like the brothers doesn't make you Wincest, nor does liking Cas mean you're a Destiel. Grow up, all of you. Neither ship is canon. Let's keep this discussion on the show, and the way it NEEDS to improve. If you want to wank about your ships, take it to Tumblr, not here. Are there any adults posting here for goodness sake? Or hormonal teens? I repeat, I want the brothers to be brothers again, but I like Cas as well. And yes, Season 8 stinks. It is dire. It's boring. Supernatural needs drastic improvement. If this show was still screening Friday nights, it would be facing cancelation. (Deservedly so, IMO. Season 8 is poor. ) Carver should consider himself lucky he has Arrow as a lead in.

Sure the brothers have always fought. But now? Now it is forced. It is contrived. The brothers have been destroyed. Sam is not Sam, and Dean is not Dean. Purgatory could have been fascinating, with Sam on the other side trying to get Dean out. That is supernatural. Disappointed. When Gamble left, I was happy and thought the show was going to improve. Sadly I was mistaken. What we have is a soap opera. I have read that people are complaining about Cas, but Cas isn't the problem here. Amelia is. Boring Amelia has taken up more screentime than Cas. She has to go. I hate soap. This is not Harlequin romance show. The only new characters I am interested in are Benny and Naomi. For those who think Season 8 is the best, I suggest you watch Seasons 1-5, and tell me this season is better. IT IS NOT. BTW, I am both a brothers fan AND Cas fan.

Why is it that whenever the brothers fight there are people who whine about their relationship being broken or assassinated? That the show is terrible and it's over and they hate it. Guys. Sam and Dean have been fighting since season 1. This isn't even their worst fight. They don't always see eye to eye, and that is what makes their relationship interesting and dynamic. This is the most interest I've had in their relationship since swan song. Quit your bellyaching. Supernatural actually feels like it has heart again in season 8, unlike season 7 where much of it felt like it was going through the motions with no real tension. Sam has character again. Dean is more than an angsty alcoholic again. Sorry they're not cardboard cutouts attached at the hip anymore. Personally, for me, the writing this season is a VAST improvement. I love everything about it. I LOVE the Trans. Love Castiel, and I'm excited and nervous to discover his storyline (okay, i'm terrified. Do NOT kill him, Carver). Love Benny, love Garth. The jury is out on Amelia until we get further with her plotline (I feel there are things we still don't know about what went on with Sam, and Amelia by extension). I really wish people would just stop throwing a damn fit every time she's mentioned. It's tiresome and far far more annoying than her flashbacks. Sorry Carver hasn't blown that story wide open yet in the FIVE damn episodes she's been in. He should really just reveal everything about the season before we're even halfway through, cause THAT'S good storytelling. How about we focus on the fact that Castiel is freaking BLEEDING OUT THE EYE in the promo?! That they boys are going to have to work together to help him? That it's going to be awesome and dramatic and heart wrenching? Nah, bitching about Sam's love life is far better use of time. I'm LOVING the season, so much so that I feel like I have to defend it against haters. It's that same feeling I get when people bash on Sam or Cas. I just have to speak up and say that I really love it.

Oh my gosh, I'm so excited. The character development this season has truly blown me away. First of all, the Dean/Cas bond...I will never, ever tire of it, and only want more. Always. All the time. The fact that Cas is going to Dean for help, unlike the last time he was in trouble and decided against it, is so awesome! I hope that one day Cas will tell Dean that he did go to him that will only bring them closer. This love they have between them makes me crazy and happy and tearful all at the same time! And Dean...well, Dean is finally opening up to Cas about his own feelings. "I need you," "I'm not leaving without you," "TALK TO ME." etc. Dean is growing emotionally, and it's FANTASTIC! Sam... I do hope that he can find true happiness some day. It's a pity that this Amelia thing is doomed to fail. I really do wish that he could have the kind of life he always wanted. I'm excited to see where they take his story, and I hope it's not too tragic.

OMG the way the haters are taking over from's hilarious. Please go crawl back in your holes. This season is awesome, it's been dubbed season gr8 by the true fans, it's been praised as being the best season in years, and even has the ratings to prove it. Carver, you are doing awesome, please keep truckin'. Team Free Will 5 eva.

It is unforgiveable what Carver has done to Sam Winchester.
Martin was mentally fragile, so of all the hunters Sam and Dean know (and they must know many, even though the show never shows them - hey, there's a storyline for you, Carver) he chooses Martin to accompany him to hunt Benny. Of course it was going to end badly. An unforgivable writing decision of Carver.
As for Amelia - I can barely hold back my rage. THAT storyline has to go. Hate Amelia, her father, Don, and even the dog. Can't stand the Trans either. My God, this season has been atrocious, but Carver's writing of Sam and Dean has been abysmal. An abysmal season. It might improve, but I doubt it. Not even Cas can save this show now. Thank God for Grimm.

Sam and Dean need to reconnect with their brotherhood. Season 8 has destroyed their relationship. Sam didn't even bother to find out where Dean was, and didn't seem to care when Dean came back! What's the idea? It was all very flat, and if there is a reason for this, then there should be a hint as to the reason. Season 8 is very slow, and the myth-arc is not coming together. Also, "Bitten" was a terrible episode (please don't do that again). Also, no more romances. Hope Sam's choice is not Amelia (this will be the show's demise if Amelia doesn't go).
