Torn and flayed? It seems to represent some fans feelings about season 8 as a whole so far. And yet, like I've said before, I still think this season is an improvement on the last.
I can understand why this episode was not the final episode before Christmas. Not that much really happened. It was entirely focused on character. Sam's Amelia arc, Dean's still blind trusting of Benny, Castiel's efforts for redemption (and the knowledge that he's been controlled by the rather scary Naiomi). An episode that takes a step back to let the character's breath is always a good thing, and I commend them for it. However, was watching the characters actually any good?
Sam/Amelia once again was a little dull. They tried to turn up the suspense of Sam's choice, when we all knew what decision he would make in the end. Before even going into this episode, I knew exactly how it would end. Dean and Sam would somehow make up, and we'd be off into 4 or 5 filler episodes this side of March. So why bother wi

Truly disappointed and I hope Jeremy Carver addresses the fact that codependency is not healthy if it makes you drop people that matter in your life. I'm also worried about Cas.

The angel's name was Samandriel, not Alfie.
But the Vessel's name was Alfie and he worked at Weiner palace or something . Dean and Sam called him Alfie.

I like the fact that Amelia is gone. I like Benny, so I am hoping that he will show up again in the future (Angel Tablet). I hate the direction of where Castiel is going with Naomi. Maybe they are trying to set up an ARC for season 9. At this point, I think that they may be cancelled soon. The writing is so all over the place. I feel so sorry for the great actors who have nothing great to work with. :(

Im probably in the minority, but im sad to see Benny and Amelia leaving. I liked Benny, and although i wasn´t a big fan of Amelia, i liked that Sam seemed to have found something really good with her. Anyway, they´ve chosen each other and we´re back to "the family business".
Castiel´s storyline is really killing me, because he has fought for right will for everyone, including angels, and now he´s being manipulated in the worst way. I can´t wait to see Castiel fighting back (with Dean and Sam by his side, hopefully) and have the team free will victorius over Naomi (who´s her, btw?!)
Good episode overall. Castiel will be missed.

OMG!!! This was a roller coaster of emotions ride for the viewer. Supernatural always delivers. Loved everything except for Samelia soap. Hopefully that's over. Season 8 and Supernatural's still GREAT! This is must see TV for my family.

I think it was a good episode! Dean and Sam are back on the same page again, which its always a great thing to the show. And im truly intrigued about whats going on with Castiel. Its terrible to see him in such state and i can´t wait til Cas (with Dean and Sam preferably) can figure whats going on and give Naomi what she deserves.

At SMS-Sam was not whinny--Sam and Dean cannot have it both ways--they either stand beside each other in the fight or they part ways. We all know that when the brothers are apart things just do not work (RUBY?!??!) I am glad they both made decisions regarding the past year-- Dean being friends with a Vamp is just not Dean...no matter the situation. (Even though I really like Benny!) And it IS typical Sam to want a normal life...every season he goes through this (except the season he lost his soul!)I would like to see Sam grow out of this desire and accept his destiny. OH--glad to see Amelia gone!
Cas.... This story line of Naomi is bugging me... maybe because I can't figure it out....so I am definitely intrigued. And give me more Crowley ANYTIME!

So glad to (hopefully) see the end of Amelia. I was getting tired of fastwarding my PVR! Otherwise a great episode!

I'm glad we have Sam and Dean back together. I didn't like Amelia all that much, and I like that Dean is done with Benny (though I guess there will be a comeback), because the Dean I fell in love with doesn't make friends with monsters just because they helped each other get out of Purgatory.

I think the biggest betrayal is Cass killing the angel. He says he wants to make amends but I'm pretty sure killing an angel was not it, especially after he had some hint that Amelia may not be what she claims. The Sam and Dean crap continues. Typical whinny Sam, if I give up something, so do you. Can't believe the ultra loyal Dean didn't race to "have a cup of coffee" with his battle proven friend. This episode seemed off balance.

Why would it be logical to have an angel tablet? Makes no sense for god to create something that could seal his own soldiers away.
And where was this chick when Cas was destroying all the angels?

I agreed that Sam and Amelia relationship was boring but I like see the "old Sammy" again from season 1. I miss that Sam and it was cool to see that again. But I'm glad the brother are back together. I hoped to see more of Crowley I really like him a lot.

This was a good return for Supernatural, only I cringed when Amelia was speaking.... wow that was really horrible acting.
the angel stuff has me really intrigued... next week looks like it will be a fun episode, not too heavy on the mythology but fun nonetheless. Felica day was quite charming when she last appeared on the show.
