Dallas Review: I Do?!?

by at . Comments

That almost everyone in "Love and Family" doubted those they loved wasn't a surprise - but the final I Do was a shocker.

Trusting Pamela

Drew came clean to Elena and she was furious. He was pleading with her. If Ryland had him beaten in front of his own daughter it wasn't much of a stretch to believe he would have killed Elena and made Drew watch. Unfortunately, his sister wasn't very sympathetic as she snarled at her brother in this Dallas quote...

Drew: You take the job, it's don't ask, don't tell.
Elena: Spoken like a stupid mule. | permalink

The news put Elena in a horrible position. The bomb Drew delivered killed Christopher's unborn children. Suddenly the conversation Bobby had had with John Ross in "A Call to Arms" became relevant for Christopher and Elena. Would she chose her family or his?

In the end, she did a bit of both. She ran to Bobby and confessed her brothers sins, mostly in the hope that they could protect him. But later with her brother on the run she lied to Christopher, actively deceiving him in order to help Drew.

There's been an awful lot of lies between this pair on Dallas Season 2. If Christopher finds out about her deception, will it be the end of their romance?

For now, Christopher's got other concerns. Was that Pamela in that photo? Like Bobby said, it's been decades and she supposedly had plastic surgery. Toward the end of the original series a woman showed up claiming to be Pamela... but was that really her?

Could Pamela be dead? Perhaps Cliff is paying someone to pretend to be his sister so those Barnes Global shares don't ever get handed down to Christopher. I wouldn't put it past him. Or maybe she's alive and well and enjoying the skiing in Switzerland. It really is anyone's guess.

When the news broke about Drew it didn't take Emma long to figure out her Daddy was behind it. Like any good abuser, Harris turned it all back on Emma. None of this would have happened if she'd only listened and done what she was told. Then he plied his daughter with more pills.

I was actually kind of proud of Emma when she lashed out at her mother for leaving her alone in that stroller all those years ago. It may have been long ago but she's got the right to be angry as she told Ann…

You escaped. You did four years. I did 20. | permalink

But I was equally proud of Ann for finding her backbone and making her daughter spend the night in jail, something the girl obviously didn't see coming. The big question is, just how long can she keep Harris from finding out and riding to his little girl's rescue?

I found it interesting that Pamela had no idea that her Aunt Catherine willed her 33 and 1/3 percent of Barnes Global to Cliff. On some level Cliff must have felt truly guilty over the pain he's caused his daughter. That's the only reason I can come up with for him giving her those shares.

John Ross and Pamela certainly disprove the theory that opposites attract. They have a great deal in common and make one hot couple, not to mention the fact that they've actually grown to care about one another.

Yet, when they ended up at the altar I was shocked. I never saw that one coming.

John Ross: Are you doing this because you love me or because you hate your father?
Pamela: I do. | permalink

I can't imagine anything making Cliff more furious than his daughter marrying J.R.'s son. I cannot wait to see his face when he finds out.

Bobby's smile as he handed Cliff the keys to Ewing Energies and walked away only made me more curious to find out about J.R.'s master plan. And as we head into next week's two-hour finale we're promised the big reveal of who killed J.R.

I don't know about you but I truly can't wait.

I loved this episode. I really like John Ross and Pam together. Can not stand Elena, miss holier than thou attitude.I hope she gets what she deserves when Chris finds out she betrayed him.Am I the only one that can't stand Elena?I can not wait too see the look on cliff's face when he finds out that Pam is married to John Ross. I love Dallas, Keep it coming for many, many years!!!

@jr - That's why we know Cliff probably blackmailed her with something to get those shares. Katherine was a fugitive with no way to support herself or Pam (who she whisked away to some clinic in the final season). Beggars can't be choosers when you're a fugitive avoiding jail, and want continued use of the Wentworth private jet.

LOVED this episode! The reviewer is much too kind to Elena. With Cliff Barnes closing in to take everything Chris has worked for, Elena decides to help her brother escape, the ONE GUY who can corroborate the scheme to blow up the rig & link it to Harris Ryland. Drew running away helps Ryland. What a bone-headed, disloyal move on both their parts. The let Barnes takeover Ewing Energies without helping the Ewings one bit. Really, did they say or do anything to help the Ewings? NO! Hope it comes back to bite both of them. JRoss & Pamela marrying for business, then falling in love in spite of all the complications - that would be awesome to see. A Ewing/Barnes marriage that actually works for all the wrong reasons. Plus, we know she's going to move to the ranch, & Chris & Elena will go NUTS!

I wanna root for him, too. But his boring and dragging relationship with Elena are all but making that impossible. There's always next season.

JR was just the most entertaining villain one could root for, and Bobby was the romantic hero who fought his brother's wicked ways and also fought for the love of his life, Pam. Now it seems that John Ross has come to embody BOTH of those roles in this season. He's not as bad as his father ever was, but he's definitely got that hint of pure wickedness that boils in his blood, making him extrememly fun to watch and want to see win (even in his most diabolical of schemes). And now he's also the romantic lead we want to see get the girl who, for right now, seems to put him in the same 'star-crossed lovers' drama his Uncle Bobby and Aunt Pam played so damn well in the original show. So where does that leave Christopher? I have absolutely no idea. All I know is that I loved seeing him team up with John Ross, and damnit, he looked like he was enjoying it! Now? I just hope that his mourning won't force the writers to plunge his character back into 'unlikable territory' again. I wanna root for him, too. But his boring and dragging relationship with Elena are all but making that impossible. There's always next season.

I absolutely love how deliciously wicked both John Ross and Pamela are together. And as husband and wife? Aw hell, this is going to get hotter than a Texas barbecue on a scorching summer's day. These two sure do make it a hell of a lot of fun to watch them banter a little here and a little there. Christopher was just way too boring for the likes of Pamela. Both she and John Ross know how to keep each other on their toes. And that always makes for great drama and really hot love scenes. Keep those coming! But how about how awkward was that that Drew didn't hug or kiss his emotional mother goodbye when he was about to ride off into possibly mortal danger? I chalk that up to bad editing. Christopher turned back into that whiny guy again a bit in this episode again, making him once again unlikable. These writers need to remember that with the original Dallas, BOTH JR and Bobby were liked by the show's fans, and for obviously different reasons. Pamela needs to fix that scar on here forehead. makes her look like she's always frowning. Love this show!!

Great episode! Normally, the evening soaps turn me off very quickly, with all their oh-please plot twists and "coincidences" -- I just eat up Dallas, though! I agree with Doug H: If TNT would run this in the summer, it would receive much better ratings. Please consider, TNT!

Catherine would never leave her shares to Cliff. She despised him more than anyone including Pam. I don't know why the producers keep ignoring or twisting the shows history.

Again... it's on TNT opposite big time programming on the major networks... Dallas would get much bigger ratings in the summer where it started last year when nothing else is on network TV... Despite the numbers, I can't see it not returning... I bet it sells well overseas.. I find it to be top notch nighttime soap stuff right out of the Dallas playbook of the 80's...

Eminent Domain. Who said that Latin was a dead language?

Cliff

Cliff: I appreciate what he did with TESHA.
Harris: Not to mention running that pipeline up the Ewing's ass for you.
