It's Dallas season 2 and actor Larry Hagman past away in the middle of filming. Thus his iconic character J.R. Ewing finds his own end as the Ewing family mourns his loss. Afterwards, Sue Ellen turns back to the bottle to deal with J.R.'s death and Bobby begins to put J.R.'s master plan into play. But as things heat up between the Rylands, Barnes and Ewings there is lots of collateral damage. In order to break up Emma and Elena Ramos' brother Drew, Ryland forces him to set up explosives on an offshore methane rig. Later, even though he knows his pregnant daughter Pamela is on the rig, Cliff still gives the order to blow it up. As Bobby enlists John Ross and Christopher to help with J.R.'s master plan, Cliff falls under suspicion of J.R.'s murder and is eventually arrested in Mexico for the crime. But Bobby knows the truth. J.R. committed suicide, knowing he had cancer and only days to live. Yet he planted enough evidence and left instructions for Bobby to frame Cliff for the crime believeing that with Barnes in prison, it would finally end the Barnes / Ewing feud.
