Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 9 Review: Where Do We Go From Here

at .  Updated at .

Say it with me: FINALLY!

Yes, Grey's Anatomy finally returned, and it only reminded me what I've been missing all winter long.

If this week's intense and heartfelt episode was any indication of how things will be moving forward, count me in! Seriously, Shonda and company totally brought their A-game.

So, what went down on Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 9?

Well, we were reminded how there are just some things you can never prepare for in life. Shock, in itself, can protect us and just might even save us when we need it the most.

We picked up right where we left off with Derek walking out on Meredith... Jackson learning about the awful news about his and April's baby... and Arizona going to Amelia with Dr. Herman's brain tumor.

I must admit that I absolutely hated seeing Derek pack up and go. I even hated it more when Meredith threw the framed Post-it note with vows in the trash. As the flashback made us recall what they once promised to one another, I couldn't help but think that it honestly felt like a lifetime ago.

Ultimately, I'm glad we saw them touch base in the final minutes and hope they are both right in thinking they will be okay. They need to be okay. They're the McDream Team.

Speaking of hope, Dr. Herman sure wasn't feeling it. As expected, she felt betrayed and was upset when finding out Arizona dug into her case. I'm so ready to see Amelia kick butt with this surgery.

And, lastly, Jackson and April's story was incredibly sad, and I just could never imagine having to go through what they're having to deal with as their journey will likely not get any easier.

At first, I couldn't understand how April could be at work, but it soon made sense when I realized she just needed to do something. When they each broke down, I felt so sad for them and could feel how terrified they both were. They need to remember that they must lean on one another, though. That's what's going to get them through this difficult time.

It's going to be hard to watch, and I'm sure we'll still be right here waiting to see how things turn out.

Other Thoughts:

  • I did not expect to learn that the mother who drove off the bridge with her kids in the car had a benign tumor that caused the accident. How many times have we heard similar stories in the news?
  • I really hope Meredith hires Lynn as her nanny. Maybe the other doctors will take note.
  • How many of you believed Meredith was calling Cristina at the end of the installment? I was hoping Cristina was on the other end of the line but was so glad to find out it was Derek.
  • Don't forget to return next week to chime in on the Grey's Anatomy Round Table.

Overall, I thought "Where Do We Go From Here" was well done and set plenty of stories in motion. I'm ready to find out how Jackson and April will deal and cope with their baby's predicament, if Amelia will be successful with Dr. Herman's surgery, and how Meredith will deal with life without her best friend and now husband.

So, what did you think? What would you like to see happen in the remainder of Grey's Anatomy Season 11? How amazing is it to have TGIT back in our lives?! Let's discuss in the comments now!

If you're like me and can't get enough of our favorite doctors, don't forget you can catch up with them again whenever you watch Grey's Anatomy online via TV Fanatic.

NOTE: Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 10 will be titled "The Bed's Too Big Without You" and air on Thursday, February 5.

Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 9 Quotes

I need a person who is in it with me and believes in that.

Meredith

You're a really good mom. You've been riding me all day, making sure I don't screw up. Crap, you've been doing it all these years. It sucks. It's annoying, but it's nice.
