The Simpsons Season 26 Episode 22 Review: Mathlete's Feat

at .  Updated at .

That was an impressive and elaborate couch gag with Rick and Morty.

I've never seen that show, but I may need to check it out. I loved Bart's "no more guest animators" comment.

It was the season finale and Groundskeeper Willie takes center stage on The Simpsons Season 26 Episode 22

It was pretty cool getting to see Springfield Elementary finally enter the digital age, even if it didn't last very long. Bart's chalkboard punishment would have been a whole lot easier with that new smart board. I bet out of everyone, he would be the most angry at Principal Skinner for mixing up power strips and surge protectors.

I have to admit, they got me there for a minute when Homer was cracking up over that math joke. I knew there was no way he actually understood it, but I had no idea why it was making him laugh so hard. That poor dog! That was mean of Homer to put the box back on his head.

There were a couple of cultural references that were pretty funny. Nelson discovering their spoof of Game of Thrones on "BHO" about "ancient warring clans who frolic unclothed even in winter" was pretty great. Willie's Harry Potter sorting hat was even better. That kid was so disappointed he had to apply to Miami of Ohio.

I don't know much about this Waldorf teaching method, but it sounds interesting. Anything that works for Bart must have merit. Who would have thought he'd be the one to win a math competition? Granted, it was only because his dad's hair is an "M" and he's been staring at it for ten (26) years.

Groundskeeper Willie has always had his own way of doing things, so he was the perfect choice to usher in this new teaching method. His measurement system is a little unorthodox, but hey, it works for him.

This was the second week in a row we were left with a completely random final scene. I definitely liked this one better than last week's though. I would have no problem with The Simpsons Post Show Jug Band making regular appearances in the future. Maggie on the jaw harp reminded me of Snoopy, which is one of my all time favorite cartoons.

Plus, who doesn't want to see Homer pass out from drinking too much moonshine? Maybe giving him the jug wasn't the best idea.

I'm sure you've all heard the news that Harry Shearer is leaving the show next year. It's going to be weird hearing someone else voice his iconic characters, but it would be worse to have the show go on without them. Mr. Burns and Ned are too important to the series.

That's it for this season guys, but don't forget, you can always watch The Simpsons online.

Principal Skinner: Oh it can't speak, but should it ever learn, yes.
