Supernatural Season 13 Episode 19 Review: Funeralia

Rowena certainly knows how to make an entrance.

On Supernatural Season 13 Episode 19, Sam had to keep his promise when it came to keeping Rowena in line. Even though I understood why Sam helped out Rowena, I was surprised Sam didn't think he would have to handle Rowena so quickly.

Rowena has always been an extremely manipulative, but also empathetic, person. Do I believe Rowena needed help and was truly afraid for her life? I do, but I would have been a little more reluctant to hand over the page from the spell book without doing a little bit of research first.

Rowena And Sam - Supernatural Season 13 Episode 19

I was confused by Dean thinking Sam was defending Rowena's actions.

It was clear he was reading what was reported on the deaths – I never saw him defending what Rowena was doing. Yes, he did justify himself by saying he was only trying to help Rowena, but Sam was just trying to do what he felt was the right thing to do.

I also don't imagine Dead was really thinking Sam was defending Rowena's actions but was getting more frustrated with the report; though I was completely surprised Rowena's real death will be courtesy of Sam.

It was a neat little twist in the whole Rowena storyline. Who would have thought Sam, the one who was originally trying to help Rowena, would be in the books as the one would ultimately kill her?

I was a little confused why Dean just went ahead and blurted it out to Rowena when she came to meet them, but I guess you have to move the storyline quickly when there are only four episodes left this season.

A Deadly Mission - Supernatural

I figured Rowena would make sure to keep herself safe, too. There was no way she was going to meet the guys at the bar without a plan. I did have a feeling after she killed the CEO guy that her reasoning for killing these people would be for a "good" reason – it's definitely one way to get death's attention.

Did Rowena really think Sam wouldn't try to shoot her? Even though she thinks she's doing the right thing, Sam was never going to let her just go to kill other people. I was pleased they redeemed Rowena as well. I never once thought she was going to kill Sam, but I understood the pain she was going through.

Even though she didn't have the best relationship with Crowley he was still her family. Rowena's changed a lot, especially after last season, but I'm delighted to see her redemption arc coming full circle.

Billie And Rowena - Supernatural Season 13 Episode 19

Moving on to Castiel, who else was cracking up over him waiting around for Dumah? I probably would have been doing the same thing. His smartass remark about really not having the time to wait around was perfect – humanity may be on the brink of ending, but hey, I'll wait around for you guys to come around.

Who else was surprised to see Naomi? I have to say, she's rocking the short blonde hair, and it's nice to see the angels change their looks even in heaven. Castiel's stiff response to her showing up certainly spoke volumes.

Here is a woman who made Castiel regularly murder Dean while also taking away pieces of Castiel in the process. I was definitely rooting for Castiel when he was just letting her have it. She'll never apologize for what she did because she saw it as helping the greater good, but at least Castiel was able to get a lot of things off of his chest.

Castiel: I was relieved to hear you were dead.
Naomi: We never did see eye to eye.

I wasn't entirely surprised to learn Naomi had been hiding up until now. Even though she did a lot of terrible things, there were still angels who were on her side. Naomi would have easily been able to hide until she was completely healed up.

Dean And Jessica - Supernatural Season 13 Episode 19

Who else's jaw dropped on the floor when Naomi revealed how many angels were left? It was insane to hear there was now only nine angels left. It made sense why they were so in need of Gabriel to come to Heaven – it would no longer exist without the power of an archangel.

It gave me chills when Naomi was talking about the souls in heaven being let loose on earth if Heaven were to go away. Could you imagine the amount of chaos? I almost wonder if they'll somehow pursue the storyline of the souls falling to earth considering they've already done the angels falling.

This was probably one of my favorite episodes. There wasn't a lot to it, but I enjoyed the idea of redemption which has been thrown around a lot this season. I even liked the addition of Jessica – she added a lot of comic relief but was somewhat helpful in the process.

Now it's your turn to tell me what you think.

Do you like the road to redemption Rowena is currently on? What did you think of the reappearance of Naomi? What do you hope to see in the last four episodes?
