[voiceover] Anyone can achieve their fullest potential, who we are might be predetermined, but the path we follow is always of our own choosing. We should never allow our fears or the expectations of others to set the frontiers of our destiny. Your destiny can't be changed but, it can be challenged. Every man is born as many men and dies as a single one.

The ruling force though on this planet in this dimension is the conscious mind and what we put in there through our experiences filters into the sub conscious mind. From that area we keep filters and pictures and filter all we take in, and out comes, feelings actions and decisions. If we don't learn to change those "pictures" (filters) then we are falling face first into other peoples desires for us and not our own. Learn to use the sub conscious mind, the higher self and only then will you learn what you really wish to acheive in life. Life on this planet is very difficult in a larger picture sense, but what we "CHOOSE" to make of it makes it hard or less hard on a daily basis for as long as we are here in this 3rd dimension of universal time. There is at least 12 dimensions out there though, the journey has barely begun.. Namaste to all Dan

I hadn't been back on this site until today, but noticed there was a few comments to something I said a while back about McGhees quote (or Heideggers for proper authority) I have been through several, I guess I will call them holistic training classes since write in here and met some new people as well, every day people, like doctors and blue collars the same. One think I'm sure of, there is ALOT more to our existence then what the average person knows or is aware of. There is alot more then even what the bible teaches. I won't ever knock that as a source, but do believe it is not complete and how can it be, the rest happens or happened before and after we are on this planet. That said, I do believe there is a composite knowledge we keep with us and though we cannot always access it on demand, we get experiences like De Ja Vu, or clairvoyance in little bits n pieces like intuition that guide us. Some call it the sub conscious mind, some call it the higher self. ( CONT)

Dear Dan, If you have any doubts about whether anything exists besides yourself, you may be a bit self centered. With all due respect to the philosophers, if I died right now and fell to the ground, others would come to take care of my body, as we see every day. Or, my dog might come by and sit with me, or something worse, but either way, it would be real and not imagined. Television has never claimed to be accurate to the philosophers of our world, nor reality in general. I know what you are thinking, but you are speaking from a positivists perspective, or modernist, or post modernist, or social constructionist or constructivist, or, please, give me a break. Maybe reality is just what is right there in front of you! One thing we know, someone is burying the people who leave here, soooooooo, there must be someone else here besides us!

I don't know what's funnier, the plagiarism of Heidegger's quote or the fact that it's meaning was ridiculously distorted. What Heidegger was referring to when he said that [the last sentance here] was a ground-breaking, speculative view on human nature; not a moral lesson on human productivity. The basic idea is this: Because of the "problem of the external world" you can never know whether anyone other than yourself exists. But even if other people may or may not be figments of your imagination, you believe in their existence so strongly that they effect how you live. When you encounter death, however, you suddenly start to live sincerely- you start to think about the only certain thing; yourself. It's a comment on this strange tendency that humans have. People say we are social beings, but time and again the fact that we die as individuals has proven that we are not. That being said, I don't think this is a very appropriate quote for this passage.

I just played this episode from "On Demand". I replayed the ending over and over to get the full quote. Going up on my bulletin board as well. Kuddos to the writers for putting something worthwhile out there. Need more of it!

As a person that was in a lot of trouble as a young man this really hits home. I was influenced by people that I should not have let influence me. This is a saying that you parents should teach your children. Maybe it will make a difference for them for the rest of their lives.

The "McGee" quote is a composite which may be recognised by the different styles and readability index levels therein contained. Two of the separate quotes included in the "McGee" may be easily identified:
Source: Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom
"We should never allow our fears or the expectations of others to set the frontiers of our destiny." Heidegger, Martin, German philosopher. quote: "Every man is born as many men and dies as a single one."
