It isn't really a science as much as a hobby. Cryptozoology, or 'the science of hidden animals', can be scientifically utilized when finding living examples of extinct species. It can also be rather unscientifically used to hunt down what has commonly become known as 'cryptids'. A good example would be Bigfoot, a solitary 8-11' tall unknown primate that survives hidden in the northern regions of North America.
