Following the judges' save of Matt Giraud last week, a pair of finaliists were sent packing on American Idol.
First, Lil Rounds, not exactly a stranger to the bottom three - or to constant criticism that she lacked originality - was told that her time was up.
Fortunately, Ryan Seacrest let her down easy, telling Rounds that she was "courageous" and adding “We need someone like you in this competition."
After that, viewers said farewell to Anoop Desai. A big-time favorite when the season began, Desai had difficulty navigating between fun songs song by artists such as Usher and slow, emotional ballads. He also simply didn't possess incredible vocal range.
The most heated, strange moment of the night occurred when Ryan tried to ask Simon Cowell thoughts on Danny Gokey. The judge waved him off and said: “You’re being facetious - go back to the contestants."
Last year's runner-up, David Archuleta, also performed his single, “Touch My Hand." The crowd loved it.
