When a family of hikers on the Appalachian Trail comes across the body of an 8-year-old kid, the BAU are brought in.

Joseph Lanham, the father of Daniel, the boy whose body was found, is an early suspect

Daniel was killed right around the time Joseph gave up looking for him.

Garcia helps uncover a string of other abductions up and down the trail, however.

The area of abductions and dump sites has been contained to a 30-mile area in Pennsylvania.

The team theorizes that the abductor suffered some kind of injury, and isn’t in good enough shape to hike far.

The cases shifts into overdrive when young Ana and Robert Brooks, 9 and 10, are taken from their campsite.

The team finally tracks them down to an abandoned coal mine in the hills.

Robert devises a plan that allows his sister to escape, but the UnSub takes him to a nearby town.

The BAU track Shane to the house of drug dealer and pedophile Brandon Hayes, to whom he has traded Robert for a supply of painkillers.

They recue the child, but Shane eludes capture and escapes back to the trail.

Has there been a follow up episode where they meet or catch this unsub?

I totally agree with the comment of "mike".I am a mother too. When i saw the scene and some tears came out thereselfs.I think it is like in the film "Irreversible"There is an scene very brutal and lots of people are shocked and closed the eyes.I have seen more brutal things in the real life.I think it is not going on like CSI.You would may change as well when you would do the job for ages. And they do it with their heart. The characters in the film.It is a story vs reality, like someone compared. There can not be every time a happy end.The humanity triumphes not every time.In the end of the day-yes,It depends from which perspectives you are looking. It was a great episode.May i would not say the best of all.But a great one.Who understand to read between the lines and make a mix of heart and brain...understads both...It isn´t may what some want to see...but can, and can learn...

I love it. It was intense and kept you on the edge of your seat. The kids did a great job.

Brilliant episode.Scary, but brilliant. In a way I think it's good they didn't catch him in the end,it sends a strong message: We'll never get them all, there will always be one out there so parents, watch your kids! One of the best episodes this season I agree :)

This is without a doubt one of the finest episodes of "Criminal Minds" that I've seen. Gripping story, brilliant direction, superb acting--the actors who play the two children are wonderful, so convincing. This is so worthy of Emmy nomination, I do hope that happens.
