The men at the Abbey put on a concert, and Edith and Mary contribute a number.

Cora holds a meeting without Isobel.

Isobel decides to go to Paris to work with the Red Cross where her medical knowledge can be of use.

In her absence, Isobel's staff go to work. Mrs. Bird opens a soup kitchen and Mr. Mosley offers his services as a valet.

The house learns of Mr. Bates whereabouts and Robert pays him a visit.

Lord Grantham receives a call from the war office that Matthew and William are missing.

Ethel is caught making love with an officer and dismissed.

Sybil and Mary talk about Branson, and Mary threatens to tattle on Sybil unless she promises not do to anything rash.

Matthew and William return during the concert.
